Where did you learn your textle skills?
I learned to hand sew from my maternal great aunt, Tia Yana, when I was quite young. Maybe five years old? Seven-years-old? I learned to knit from my childhood friend, Katie Simon, also at a tender age. Eight? Ten? I learned more about knitting from my mother. She used to knit maroon socks for the Red Cross. And she was one of those who could knit like a bat out of hell while carrying on a conversation or watching TV. I learned to machine sew in Home Economics class in Junior High School. I'm sorry to say I've forgotten the teacher's name. I enjoyed the class greatly and my parents were so impressed with what I made, that they bought me a sewing machine; a Singer Slant-O-Matic. This may have been the first year for that machine. I still have it, although I now use a lovely Bernina artista 180. The Singer machine came with a sewing class, which I took. The teacher's name was Zoe. I learned to use sweaters to make felted, or fulled, wool from Therese Inverso. The rest from books, the web, and experimenting.
Hi! Got both your lovely messages - many thanks! Like you, I'm not entirely sure (ie. I'm...completely in the dark! Eeek!) about just where we're to leave comments - however, it doesn't seem to matter as one always gets a "heads-up" re: any comments via e-mail. Just took another lovely journey through your gallery - your at is such a joy! Cheers! Charlotte
