fuzzy wuzzy wuz my mummy

Warning 1: This is one of those self indulgent ‘things-kids-say/I-have-the-cutest -kids -in- the- world’ type post, and completely off-topic. Warning 2: This is especially for Mary Anne and any other weak-bladdered coffee-thru-nose snorters/chokers. In my defence - It is actually funny – the last one is anyway. Well the woman next to me thought so.   What is? One [...]

bibs and bobs

Thankyou. To everyone for your kind comments. Not a stitch have I taken since I finished the book. I did clean the kitchen floor (I figured if Tom – a 7 year old boy - notices the mess it’s time to do some housework), and I am cleaning up my workspace, ready to start something new. What next? I’m [...]

Fruit: the book….the movie, the t-shirt and the coffee mug

Just kidding. It’s just a book. From start: (flip the page) (flip the page) (flip the page) To finish: The only close up – machine embroidery of twiggy leafy branches on front and back cover.   A collaborative effort: I’m going to stop short of thanking the fans in the balcony – but I wouldn’t have finished this without everyone’s kind [...]

Angst free stumpwork

Stumpwork is an embroidery technique I admire immensely. I am drawn two directions with embroidery – towards contemporary free style embroidery (both machine and hand) and historical and traditional embroidery – crewel work, stumpwork, black work, white work…… Stumpwork always fills me with angst. It is fiddly, time consuming, detailed and structured. And I enjoy it [...]

Birthday girl

Fruit book First off – I have been diligently working on my fruit book, but I am not going to bore you with progress shots: here’s a seam covered with herringbone , here’s another seam ….and wait there’s more…. Instead I thought I’d bore you with the minutiae of my life. Four years ago: I said ‘never again’ for [...]

That's really funny because I don't have the patience to do the sort of thing you do. Cross stitch and hardanger are about my lot when it comes to embroidery. I'm a bit of an instant gratification sort of person which is probably why I like putting the quilts together - things grow quickly.

when I saw your work it was like looking at a kindred spirit! lol. I have looked through your photos and been very inspired by them, (wish my camera would work that close). The photo is a crop of my encrusted pebble, inspired by the Jennifer Rochester project in Stitch magazine. I especially like your main photo, looks a bit like a planet. I have some blown glass planets by Josh Simpson

Oh Paula -- all of your little stitching projects are amazing. As you know I bought the Meech book (and a few others) as I so want to learn how to stitch like YOU.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I, too, take photos of unusual things. When we were in New Orleans, I photographed not the mansions, but tree roots, iron fences, grave stones, good stuff.

Hello Paula. Like you I am new to this Flikr business but I think my Flikr name is gracelister Alice. Try this and you should reach my photostream. If not, try one of these three groups - Members of the Embroiderers' Guild, Take It Further Challenge or Stumpwork Group - and you will find some of my photos there. Click on one of them and that should take you to my photostream. I hope this helps but if not, let me know and I will try some other way. Grace
