Thanks for your kind comments. We have such different styles, but I am AWED at the elegant beauty of your collected works shown here. Just amazing. (And by the way, I lived in Greenbelt, MD for many years, though not recently.)
Thanks for your comment Terry, I have admired some of your pieces before but it's wonderful to see the full collection on your page. How does one person get so good at so many techniques? Very impressive!
Thank you very much Terry, I came a long way from cross stitch. I finally feel free to use everything I know. Your work is very perfect and beautifull !
Actually, none of it is difficult once you get the hang of it. The hardest part is probably when you start to get to the end and the weaving gets to be a little tight. A needle is used to weave the threads and the tines of a fork to tighten the woven threads together. I have been wanting to try some dyeing. Do you know if the pearl cotton can be dyed? I may have to play with that idea.
Terry, I took retirement early last year when I couldn't find fulltime work. I had lost my job the end of '08 and felt lucky to even find part-time work as I hated to be on unemployment. I was a product designer and loved my job but didn't do much at home as I created things all day at work and worked long hours as you now do. I currently work pt for an attorney and can't stop creating at home as an outlet, but the 3 projects are keeping me busy (in a fun way). You do such beautiful work, I hope you find some time with your busy schedule to be creative. Thanks for the info.
Many thanks for your kind comments, Terry. I enjoy the designing and stitching, in some ways more than painting. I suppose it does take patience (I've sometimes spent whole weekends just stitching a plain, single-colour border) but I put headphones on and listen to my favourite CDs, and that carries me along and makes me feel the time is doubly used. Glad you like the cranes. I collect Japanese textiles, which are a great source of inspiration. I see they are to you too! Fabulous work. Really beautiful. I'd love to be able to do that! Best wishes from England! Andy.
Hi Terry. Thank you for the sweet comments about my Christmas blocks. I'm flattered. I don't think I am going to get anything done for Easter. I have been taking part in CQJP 2012, BJP 2012 and TAST. It is difficult to fit it all in! How do you set to be notified if someone posts a photo? I am still learning how to manuever on this site.
Thank you for your wonderful comment, Terry! Your support has been so wonderful. I enjoy the process of stretching my creativity. I've often said one learns more from ripping out a project than they do from putting it together!
