Connie Kusevskis responded to me about the picots: Picot's are difficult ... keep trying sooner or later it will happen.
I think next time I am going to use a second needle to hold the picot loop out until I snug, move on and finished the woven bar. On that bookmark I was trying to do two picots, each side of the woven bar ... that wasn't going to happen :)
I have several hardanger books from Nordic Needle and I am slowly working my way through them.
On this particular bookmark, it was a kit and the multi-green size 5 Sullivan's came in the kit. I think next time I am going to use a solid size 5 color thread as I think the pattern will pop more with a solid color.
I do like that scallop edge that Connie showed us. Noelle

I used the cutter on a dental floss box for cutting threads on a plane:) Maybe an idea?
