I've just seen your photos - the teatowels are sensational!! Real family heirlooms; I hope your family appreciate them as such. If they turned up on eBay right now, they would probably sell for over $100 for a full set. I bid on a set of seven t/towels a couple of years ago, but when the price went up to $70 for the set, I dropped out. I figured I could stitch them myself for a lot less than that!

There are a lot around these days that have been copied from original old transfers. It's great that people take the trouble to do that, otherwise most of us would never see them, let alone have the chance to stitch them. I had similar experiences on linen teatowels - really hard to push/pull the needle through. If it is possible, I now wash those type of tea towels several times before ironing the transfer on to them, to soften up the material.

Hi Joyce, I just dropped into The Vintage Iron on transfers group and saw your message. It is nice to see someone posting there - it has been so quiet for ages. I'm looking forward to seeing your embroidered tea towels! Are you using Aunt Martha or Vogart transfers, or from another source?
