One of my goals for 2012 is to explore color in a little more depth than usual.  As the various challenges presented themselves, I thought these might be the perfect opportunities to try some new ideas.  With that in mind, I have decided to make a fabric book with each page representing a color on the color wheel.  Following the color wheel is easy since it has 12 basic colors and the year has 12 months!

I rarely work in the pure colors or with black and white combinations so that is another layer to the challenge for me.  My theme will be sewing--I have some sewing motifs that are in a threadsketch style that appeals.  I will be using machine embroidery with hand embroidery.

Here is the 12" block ready for its first TAST stitches.  I will be hand embroidering this block during January.  So, it will have all 4 weeks worth of stitches on it + embellishments.  I will have a facing page that gives some room for notes and other ideas I don't put on the main page.

My plan is by the end of 2012 to have a colorful, tactile reference manual that delights the eye and reminds me of the adventure.

I am leading a small support group for the TAST. Some of the members are also making fabric books. You can follow our work here, Beginner's TAST Study Group.  There is a wide variety of styles and approaches.
