You can create simple printing blocks using a product called "Funky Foam". Find a shape that you like, trace it and cut it out. On a piece of heavy card lay down rows of double sided sticky tape. Apply the funky foam shapes to the taped card. The block is now ready to use. You will need to use heavy fabric paints, acrylic paints or Jacquard Lumiere paints; in other words paints that are thick enough not to run. If you use acrylic paints, you will end up stiffening the fabric slightly. This may not matter to your finished item but if you are intending to wear it or want it to keep its softness, you will need to use paints suitable for textiles or buy a textile medium for the acrylic paints. You can't wash these blocks but you can clean them with baby wipes or something similar.
