Make your own printing blocks

You can create simple printing blocks using a product called "Funky Foam". Find a shape that you like, trace it and cut it out. On a piece of heavy card lay down rows of double sided sticky tape. Apply the funky foam shapes to the taped card. The block is now ready to use. You will need to use heavy fabric paints, acrylic paints or Jacquard Lumiere paints; in other words paints that are thick enough not to run. Textile Traditions

This is an art quilt I made a while ago which depicts my "textile tradition". It shows my great aunt on the right and my great grandmother on the left. I didn't really know my great grandmother but she was an accomplished embroideress and we still have some of the pieces she sewed. My great auntie encouraged me to embroidery when I had first started to learn at school when I was about six.
