This is something that has irked /amused me for years.
I have discovered a much cheaper system than so called Tapestry wools (and that term isnt correct either..tapestries are woven, needlepoint is stitched!), and have been using them for years.

Playing around with traditional American patchwork patterns last night, I discovered that on 18 mesh canvas, I could use 18 stitches to effectively make 9-patch tiny blocks, which would be great for things from frig. magnets to bracelets and belts.
