Beeng the quick, impatient type my whole life, I should have known better than fiddle about my new felting machine! I was really lucky, only two of the needles penetrated my index finger, and only the skin, not the nail!! Be aware and careful everyone! In addition I sprained my next finger on the same hand!
Im working on! Have a nice week everyone!

My space, along with the rest of the house and garden too, are tidy for open garden and Magic Christmas Cave which was part of a fundrasing day for the local hospital.
I don't usually decorate for Christmas this early, but it was for a good cause. I don't know how the fundraising side of it went, I just handed the tin over to the committee, but I had a great day with friends and friendly people visiting to see both garden and the…

Beeing so lucky, having just bought 3 new sawing machines, this weekend is filled with experiments! Trying out all my new seams, and hours go by so quickly! Time suddenly disappears! Where do they go? Is it possibly a time loophole in my studio? (can anyone please tell me the correct word to use here?? :)

I'm feeling so lucky today, my daughter bought me a new sewing machine yesterday and it was delivered today. It's absolutely fantastic and can do all sorts of different things. It can be used for quilting, embroidery, monogramming and the most useful thing for me is that it can overlock and do straight stitch all at the same time. I'd only had the old machine for a year but it was beginning to show signs of the strain of being used for upwards of 8 hours a day. The new one is industrial quality…

On my mind tonight and for the past few weeks are my passions, many of them fleeting and some of them with a little more staying power. Perhaps it's because so many things interest me that I have trouble really landing on one passion and staying with it.
It's funny, because by chance I met a woman at a craft store recently (I believe I wrote about this in my first blog) who was just getting into silk ribbon embroidery. She laughed at her own transferrance of attachment, first to…

Hi All,
I finally got some new photos taken of the new (to me) stitches I've been working on over the past few weeks, namely woven picot (thanks Mary Corbet for the tutorial!), French knot roses and cast-on stitches-inspiration courtesy of Marie Alton, sea anemones ala Paula Hewitt and the crocheted button flower via AveryClaire and the tutorial she shared: crochetedbuttonflower.
I really enjoyed all the new techniques and am especially proud of the big blue/purple flower…

I am going to teach two applique online quilting classes during November. See the
Fiber Focus blog for details.
It would be great fun to have a nice, diverse group of people participating, so here is an extra incentive: get 10% off for each person you enroll in the class! (If you get 10, it would be free!) I'll comment back here if you have any questions. Come join me!

I need to put more time in this blog.. Sorry. I am sewing a lot, however it is all doll clothing that we sell on eBay. eBay is a necessary thing to supplement our retirement, even though I would love to be using my time on projects of crazy quilting type. I do have quite a list of things I want to make. Someday........

I added a picture of the purse I have been working on & just finished. I'm not really crazy about the shape, but better luck next time. I think the embroidery came out pretty well. I also posted pictures of some tatting. I am trying to learn how to tat also. I can do needle tatting but I just can't grasp shuttle and it's driving me crazy.

My schedule is killing me. PTA taxes are due and they are a mess. Christmas is getting closer and closer. My 10 in 10 plan didn't work, but I have the materials and the sewing machine is ready to go. Starting to panic a little.

It's been a hard year at this job.
People hated me from the get-go and I was really naive about it. I didn't think being a journalist would upset so many employees at our local hospital, where I took a job in admissions last October. But I was wrong.
Nurses here - many in positions of authority - were especially ugly and vile to me in the first months of my employment. One lied and tried to get me fired, others simply harassed me behind my boss's back. I was told the…

Well the shower is over and it was a great success. Everyone had a great time. Everyone loverd the party favors I made and Darlene was thrilled with the quilt I made. It was a very happy day as you can see from the pictures.

I've been "patching" again, and playing with the mathematics of these wonderful geometric patterns - making them all sizes from the "inchy-patch" to pillows. This is very entertaining - figuring out how to imitate fabric effects instead of using textured "needlepoint" stitches. (but using beads, of course.) I'm showing these shortly on my new "Freebies"…

I'm beginning to feel like I'm cursed.
In my attempts to expand my current collection of embroidery thread beyond the monotony of DMC cotton six-strand floss, it seems as if I am being thwarted at every turn. Of course, I exaggerate. But not by much.
Over the past several months I have drooled over photos of other stitcher's work here on stitchinfingers and other sites. I have been introduced to many new threads, stitches and techniques which have fueled my desire to try…

So much for thinking we were having an Indian Summer. Since Monday it has rained non stop and the drains are having difficulty coping with the sheer volume of water that is cascading down the high street. I live halfway up the hill so as yet we've not had any problems with the rain but the poor souls at the bottom are in danger of being flooded.
