I've been documenting the process for a couple of pieces--Autumn and 6X6" Spring--and have posted the pics in the slideshow above. I'll keep posting photos as they develop--enjoy.

I've added the sketch I used for my Autumn piece--Anne asked if I free stitched or used a pattern, so this sketch is about as "patterny" as I get. Still stitchin...

Finished the baby quilt for a neighbor. Included a label, which is rare for me. Yeah! Nice to get this off my list.

I'm so tired of all the projects sitting around here stitched but unfinished. This week I'm really going to try to assemble ornaments, bind a quilt etc. Wish me luck. I need to clear this stuff out of my sewing room and off my UFO list.

I've begun stitching the branch in the Autumn piece --and just as the first few leaves are falling outside my studio window! I do love the fall more than any other season. Just the anticipation of the colors makes me giddy (being a redhead, I look really good outside- ha ha). Anyway, I'm using 12 strands of brown floss and working a raised stem stitch band. I think I'll do some loose weaving through it for "barky" texture. Now, off to stitch and leaf-watch!
Incidentally: over at…

I uploaded a watercolor underpainting (photo above titled Autumn 1) which I'll be stitching over these next weeks for the Campanella Gallery show in July 2009. Some of my Art Institute students were discussing "process", so I thought this would be a good place to show a work from start to finish.
First, I lightly sketched the main branch and leaves with a pencil. Then I laid 2 watercolor washes over it, using a blow dryer to keep the fabric from spreading the wet paint too far. Next, I'll…

Perhaps my greatest character flaw is lack of organization. It is not that I do not want to be organized, but I am not organized. I buy all of the items to help get me organized and read about getting organized, but fail.
Today I am going to organize my CQ materials. That is my only project. I am going to work for 1/2 hour and then move on to something else. If I am not finished, I will do the same thing either later on today or tomorrow.

Hi, everybody! Been having some problems with my computer, so loading anything lately... But, I wanted to share that I am doing a post on my blog,
Fiber Focus, on studio or work spaces. The blog's focus is on fiber, but I'm opening this up to anyone who wants to participate (free publicity, hint, hint)... I want to show a variety of spaces and how the users feel about them. Love it? Hate it? Neat freak? Total mess pad? It would be fun to have a…

I didn't think I could stitch in the dark. Then the remnants of Hurricane Ike came through Ohio. We really don't know what to do with hurricanes around here. Ike didn't care, and took out power in most of the city. While it was light outside, I cleaned fallen branches out of our yard, then helped some neighbors do the same in their yard.
Sunset was around 7:45 pm. Far too early to go to bed, but too dark to read, even by candlelight. I came to the conclusion that if I could crochet…

this is a new series I've had fun doing - so far, anyway. I finished September and October, and am now working on November, but in the colors of the September TIF Challenge - which were perfect, as they even included the topaz, which is November's birthstone. This one is September, with its sapphires and…

Finally got my pic added to my profile - it's going to be the top of a pincushion. And being as how college football season has begun, it seems appropriate to use this one. I may change the picture once the pincushion is finished to show the final view.
This is one of six pincushion tops I've crazy quilted. My mom and mother-in-law were cutting 2 1/2 inch squares of muslin, and there were a few pieces that were only 2 x 2 1/2 inches. I claimed those for pincushions. Now I just have…

Well as you can see I added my post in the wrong place. I'll get the hang of this yet. I finished the quilt in record time and can't wait to give it to her. The quilt came out very nice, I am pleased with it. I hope they will both love it. My hubby didn't think it would turn out well, but he really liked it. Said i did a good job. She has no idea that I made it. Infact today I called to make sure she wasn't stopping by so i could finish. She assumed I was doing party favors for the shower and…

They never gossip or spread rumours about you.
They never believe any rumours they hear about you.
They will give you a hug whenever you need one.
They don’t get cross if you forget their birthday.
They always listen to everything you say.
They never yell at you
They never complain about your cooking, or even if you forget to cook dinner.
They never argue with you. They are always happy to see…
