I have an very active interest in all aspects of textiles and love to design and stitch. Currently hand embroidery and crazy quilting dominate but I also do a bit of freeform crochet, sewing and costuming.
Where did you learn your textle skills?
School when I was a child. After doing a fine arts degree I completed a post graduate studies in textiles then went on to do a masters too!
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
Could be, but I didn't do the adapting! This one actually has four sides and I found it collapsed a bit (you can see if you look at the shadow on the bottom half) the next one I made, I only used three sides and stuffed it lightly with toy stuffing.…
Hi everybody
I have just added a picture of a Christmas holly stumpwork. You can find the instructions for this piece on my blog http://www.goldnstitches.typepad.com/ . It won't take too long to make as it is a small piece.
Hope you enjoy it. Sandy

I loved making the autumn cards - I hand painted all my cards to get the right colours I wanted and just had such fun with them!
Thanks to Jane for the lovely card with autumn colors! Our trees are just turning this week - so pretty as I sit in the hot tub at the gym and all the trees around me are orange and yellow! (It's Calif - 68-70 degrees today here). I like how you use…
I am curious... I see you are from Canberra Australia. Did you go to Country Bumpkin's Beating Around the Bush in October? I have so many embroidery friends from around the world that attended. They all had a wonderful time.
I would have loved to have gone myself. All the best embroidery teachers from all over the world were there teaching. I just couldn't face 31 hours of airports and flighting time. It seemed like a very long way to go for just six days.

Thanks, Sharon for your comments about my spider. I'm glad he made you smile. I had a lot of fun making him, so it's great that he made you smile, too. I am leaving a comment here because I tried it another way and don't think it showed up for you. Hope you have a great day. Debby
Thank you for your kind comment about my fairy shoes.
I see we can choose a page to jump to in the photo gallery. PHEW! Thank you for that too. No more clicking through hundreds of pages to go back to where I left off.
thank you. i really admire your work. i'm going to be adding favorites later this eve. that little tree is one of the smallest things i've done, but now i think i might concentrate on postcard size more often. you can really zoom in on the stitches. it's actually way more impressive in online photos. if you had it in your hand, you would say, "where'd it go?!" LOL
Hi Sharon
I found out I was not the only one having problems loading up the webpage. But now I am pleased to say it is working perfectly again- my friend emailed me the good news.
