Hi ktj, thanks for the welcome. I wish I could spend all the time stitching, that I spend on the computer searching for new ideas. Just have to pick up that needle!! I finally did get my craft room in shape. Now I can walk in without a fear of falling flat on my face. I even found a few things I forgotten I even had. Kinda like Christmas for me, LOL. I must stop buying and start stitching. My Mom is in a nursing home now, as she requires 24 hour care. I try to visit her every day I'm in town, which has only been three days a week lately. Keeps me busy but at least It keeps me out of trouble. How's retirement? Enjoyed seeing all your work.........just as lovely as ever. Sue
Hi KTJ, Thanks for your quick response to my message. I'll let Miriam know that your card will be on its way soon. Oh I just LOVE your stitching here - the beading makes it so special!
Hi KTJ,
How are you going with your Cross Stitch exchange card? I want to finalise the Exchange as soon as possible, so I'm contacting people who haven't posted details of when they sent their card off.
Hi Ktj - I LOVE your embroidery in these photos - absolutely beautiful! You left a message on the Cross stitchin Fingers group regarding making a card. The item you stitch is usually glued inside a card, with the motif showing in the cut out opening. It is nice to put a brief message inside the card, to the person you are sending it to, with your signature, so it becomes a keepsake from you.
Ahh, this is great information and gives me some added confidence for registering for one of the classes! Along with the costs of the class, supplies , lodging and meals, i have to also figure in dog boarding costs...vbg--so if i can economize along the way, it definitely helps!
When I registered for the class, there was a place on the application form to indicate that I would like a room-mate. Before leaving home, the JEC sent out an e-mail listing those who were looking for room-mates with their e-mail addresses so we could find our own room-mates. As most of the participants at the classes I attended were staying at the Best Western, we would congregate in someone's room to chat and discuss the day's work. Or we would discuss over supper. Or speaking very quietly, in the stitching studio after class. Again, I hope that answers your questions.
I have been to JEC 3 times in the last few years. When I go, I share a room with a friend and stay at the Best Western Peachtree Corners. The rates are quite reasonable, especially when the room is shared. We take a taxi to the Japanese Embroidery Centre, sharing the cost with others who are staying at the hotel, or hitch a ride with someone who has a car and doesn't mind an extra person or 2. The hotel supplies a continental breakfast, we eat lunch (which we bring) at the JEC and eat supper at a restaurant right beside the hotel. If you need more details, contact me. Because I am travelling a long distance, I only take courses that are 4 days long, not the 2 day sessions. Hope that answers some of your questions.
Hey, Ktj, I looked on the list and Lois Nizny is in Cincinnati. that isn't too far, is it? I Lois is great, really sweet.I will also ask Karen as she may know who is closer. Toni Evans is excellent. She is in DC but you could email her. She may go up there. Look on the JEC website, go to instruction and browse through the teachers. I know what you mean. It is tough to find a teacher. I took one class, went home to Guatemala to stitch for 6 months, then back to Atlanta where my daughter lives, so it wasn't that difficult for me. Anne Gomes
