You will get a better idea about me if you visit my blog but I enjoy fabric art, making ATCs and Postcards and have recently started making small art quilts and wallhangings. I like incorporating textiles into mixed media paintings to provide texture and I love beading and hand stitching. I am still very much a beginner and am keen to try anything new.
thanks for asking me as a friend Julie, I have been a bit lax about joining in with the group and I am behind with my weekly stitches, just been reading your comment wall and agree with Christine re Guatemala textiles, I saw an exhibition of Guatemalan (Maya) textiles at Trowbridge museum in the 1990's and I bought a book there as I just fell in love with them they are so beautiful, enjoy your virtual search, best thoughts Frances
Hi Christine! :) Thank you so much, I shall definitely go and check out Guatemala(well, not literally). (Just been to check whether I have Simply Quilts but I don't, maybe a trip to Amazon, again!) Visiting may well not be in the offing but I will definitely have a look. I'm supposed to be practising FME at the moment but I've popped on here supposedly briefly! lol I'll let you know what I think!
Hi Julie- I saw your reply to Guzzisue's question. You may want to check out Guatemala's textiles. I learned this from Simply Quilts. They have wonderful embroidered clothing items in those fabulous colors & also the weavings they do are out of this world. So if you are looking for a little bit of everything, Guatemala may be the place. Now as far as visiting, not so sure it's safe but it's fun to dream.
Thank you so much for your compliments about my quilts.
As you can see i have a passion for colour and fabrics and love to use up small bits of fabric.
I look forward to seeing some of your quilts.
I have added you as a friend if thats ok. Maybe we could meet for coffe sometime when i visit Grantham.
There used to be some nice shops that sold fabrics there but they seem to have closed down.
I have also sent you a link to my on line quilt group .
You are welcome to join us if you wish.
Hi again forgot to reply to your queries. It was a piece of hand painted silk I'm made and didn't know what to do with. I put it under the embellisher needle and then did a bit of stitching on it. When I'd finished I liked it so much I've refused to part with it.
