More Patchwork

I've been "patching" again, and playing with the mathematics of these wonderful geometric patterns - making them all sizes from the "inchy-patch" to pillows. This is very entertaining - figuring out how to imitate fabric effects instead of using textured "needlepoint" stitches. (bu… Continue

Birthday Crazy Quilt Ornaments

this is a new series I've had fun doing - so far, anyway. I finished September and October, and am now working on November, but in the colors of the September TIF Challenge - which were perfect, as they even included the topaz, which is November's birthstone. This one is September,… Continue

Mini-Patchwork stitched!!

I couldn't leave these alone - so went ahead and stitched them today. Also started a bracelet with them in Christmas colors. Thinking now about napkin rings for setting an autumn color table.

Mini-Patchwork (or "inchies" in needlepoint)

Playing around with traditional American patchwork patterns last night, I discovered that on 18 mesh canvas, I could use 18 stitches to effectively make 9-patch tiny blocks, which would be great for things from frig. magnets to bracelets and belts. I have the tutorial on setting thi… Continue

Wow, Judy, how lovely that you were able to be introduced to tatting from your Grandmother. I think it would be lovely to see photos of it if you were able to save any of it. Thanks for sharing that story with me. ((hugs))

Judy, Thank you for your thoughts on the silk ribbons. The best luck I've had has been with the Thread Gatherer so far. I bought some ribbons that I thought would make lovely roses, but the edges disintegrated on me when they were pulled through the fabric and are useless. Good to know about the LYI brand fraying.

Thanks Judy. That's a good idea for the 24 ct. I am supposed to be finishing my WIP not starting a new one, lol.

Hello Judy
I already have bookmarked your blog ;-)
Your bargello ornaments are exquisites. I didn' t have yet stitched bargello but I am willing to learn. Do you know some good places or tutorials ?
I also like a lot your crazy needlepoint.

Oh, here you are, Judy.

I absolutely love your CQ needlepoint designs and am dying to stitch some.

I just posted a few minutes ago without realizing that you were here (lol)

It has been a long time since I have been that excited about something. Your designs are really one of a kind.

Hi Judy - I had not seen your blog until you joined this group. What a wealth of information and beautiful work. I have to spend more time reading your older postings. I can now see what you mean about how an intricate design would be better if stitched mostly in basketweave rather than overpowered by decorative stitches and fancy threads. I hadn't thought of that before. By the way, I especially like your talavera designs.

Hi Judy, thanks for your reply to my query about converting cross stitch to needlepoint. I don't know what I was thinking about when I mentioned the peacock cross stitch kit - it is a counted XS kit, not a painted canvas, so I don't know how it would look being done in half XS or tent stitch. I'll get it out one day and have a closer look!
