Thank you Jayne. I will have fun making them the needlepoint newcomer to Christmas in the Northern hemisphere.

In South Africa they are definitely Christmassy - lots of local cards have them. There's also lots of designs and interpretations in any number of media. Have fun with them.

Thanks for that. It is nice to hear because it was on a visit to South Africa that I noticed that they do represent Christmas over there. Which is why I wondered if we could adopt them too. Their speckled plumage just lends itself to the theme.

I love your guinea fowl, we used to see lots of them at Christmas time when I lived in South Africa. I agree with what everyone else has said too.

I am still working it out but I am becoming more convinced that there is a festive look to the guinea fowl. Thank you for your kind comment.

Sorry this is a bit late, but I had to say I really love this. It's inventive, colourful, very festive and it brought a smile to my face. My first thought was how imaginative and fun for Christmas! I love the elements of the design, especially the p…

Thank you Sharon, I am encouraged by your reply. I am working on a smaller simpler version which I think is looking better.

If some of my girls could get there sister's 6 pet guinea fowl in a pot they would be very christmassy... Christmas should be what YOU make it, It's about the heart not the trend...If your not selling the idea to the big world and just want to enjoy…

I do agree that anything can be Christmassy, particularly if the colours clinch it. I will carry on and try to get this right!

Thank you PattyD, you are very kind. I will persevere!

Anything can be Chritmassy .............. and the guinea fowl would fit amongst my Christmas decorations. (The only problem would be lack of space at my place.) It has the required snow and red, and would fit right in with the blue and white themes,…

Absolutely not! I love your idea. The problem with commercialized Christmas is that it becomes regimented, as if every holiday celebration has to be a certain color or a certain theme. While I will be forever enamored of glitzy things, it is the cha…

At One Off Needlework the Christmas rush is well under way and it is not only Angels and Robins that are flying off the shelves. But I am in the mood for Christmas and have a new idea that is taking a long time to get right. My idea is guinea fo…

I know nothing about pulled threadwork but this looks fantastically skilled. No need to worry about distance and photographic accuracy it is a glorious decorative piece beautifully done.

Thrilling is exactly the right word! Sometimes I will send a piece away for exhibition or a challenge. When they come back home it is so exciting to open the package and see the piece as if it were new. To think that this is what *I* made!

Less than four months to go for Christmas Gifts.

What can be nicer than a hand made Christmas gift? The hours of work devoted to it make the whole thing so much more meaningful and precious. There is still time to get stitching and make something personal for a grandchild, or maybe a son, daughter, parent or your best friend.
Perhaps there is a milestone wedding anniversary coming up? At One Off Needlework, we have the four big ones; Diamond, Gold, Ruby and Silver.
Or what about a Christmas Stocking with the name of the lucky recipient stitche… Continue

Christmas must be coming!

This is normally the time of year when there is so much to do that needlepoint hardly gets a look in. But not this year it seems. I cannot believe how busy I have been, sending out new orders for needlepoint/ tapestry kits. There has even been a rush for Christmas Stockings and Decorations, so stitchers are already planning ahead.
If you prefer to enjoy the summer before launching into Christmas, we have plenty of summery designs at One Off Needlework that are perfect for your holiday, whether y… Continue

Thanks for your kind comments about my pulled thread work. I love to do it, and am always trying to figure out new ways to design pieces for it.
