Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
I have primarily been a quilter for the past 25 years but now am more interested in crochet, needlepoint and colored pencil drawings. However, I have not given up quilting entirely and I belong to the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
I have learned most of my skills from personal experience and from public TV programs. About 20 years ago when I was living in Atlanta, GA I took a beginning quilting class at the local Hancock's Fabrics store and have been quilting ever since. I would love to take a City and Guilds course and/or one the correspondence courses from the Embroidery Guild of America.
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I wrote 2 blogs for 8 years and deleted them in April 2013. One blog was on quilting and the other was a book review blig.

The only people from the Royal School of Needlework who are teaching are in Canada and California, but you could always come to San Francisco and take a class in the fall or spring.

Hello Violette
We are practically neighbors. I live in Mount Prospect and my building is under O'Hare's flightpath.

Your little ornaments are all so fun! I'm completely retarded when it comes to quilting...I've been working on the same quilt for about 5 years...ugh! These little gems are so great, I'll bet they look fab on your tree.

Morning Violette - I would like to join the goldwork group but am unsure as to how to go about it so I though I would contact you. I have done two classes in goldwork and would like to learn and do more. I am particularly interested in church embroidery.

Violette, Thanks for the invite, but no thanks. I have a love /hate affair with gold thread. I love the look, hate the stitching. Sorry I haven't replied before, but I keep getting sidetracked when I am around stitchin fingers. So much to look at, and red, so many links to blogs, including yours, and an hour later I forget what I was going to do! I will be looking at what you all achieve though, as like I said, I love the look of gold work!

Oh I see - unfortunately Ning is automated and it wants a photo - can you get anyone to email you a photo of goldwork and then you can upload it?

Hello Violette! There is some mix-up with EGA, and two people at EGA have kindly attempted to correct it. I am an "at-large" member (that is, not connected with any specific club) and perhaps that's the problem. After no less than a national EGA officer intervened, I did receive two copies of the magazine (which I was crazy about), one of which was a back issue. I never received more. I received a note from someone in the EGA office after I posted here about not receiving issues of the magazine, but I give up. Other EGA members get emails and offers and magazines and I have never gotten any of those things. It's not that important to me to keep fighting for it.
