I don't know that much about shops in Lawrence. Don't get there nearly often enough! (Hmmm, hubby mentioned a road trip...thinking, thinking!) There is only one embroidery shop in Topeka. They have a great selection of flosses and fabrics, but not much of specialty threads. I asked for silk last time I was there and found only one small selection. Thanks for the invite to be a friend. If we find a good embroidery shops we must let each other know!
Hi Vicki, the left-hand leaf has an attached vein with the wire going down the centre, turning and going around the leaf shape to the base and then a section left to put through the background material. The right-hand leaf was done in more of a hurry and the vein is a separate piece of wire. I am now working the petals but am using Anchor Stranded as I don't have DMC so I am having to change the colours a little. Grace
Have you got all your threads etc sorted and ready to stitch? I have been following the discussion on the project and there are some really interesting comments on overcast stitch verses buttonhole stitch over the wire. I have always used utton hole but am going to do the flower petals in overcast to see if they are ore delicate.
