"Thank you ladies.
Mary, Tahlia, Heike, Marja, LuAnn. I have received lovely birthday cards from you all.
I am sorry that I cannot post photos of these great cards. My resident techie and myself are having some
"Pessoal, pellas minhas contas 06 Amigas no recebeu cartão. Gostaria que confirmassem. Estou fazendo 06 e enviando de novo, o que é um prazer. Queira Deus, que todas recebam, ficarei feliz. Abraços
"I am still in for December! I'm not sure yet what I'll end up doing since my natural dye explorations aren't pleasing me much, but I'll definitely come up with something! I have a couple of alternate ideas, but need to figure out…"
"Thank you, Diane for clarifying that self-directed projects using our Altered Fabrics are also welcome here! :) And thank you Luann for the wonderful "Follow Your Heart" title for it!
Yah, my studio time has been very disrupted this past…"
"Heya! I'm here too. Where Thee sees deadlines that are distant and "so far out" that they should be easy to work with, I see looming immediacy and the panic that I am already behind schedule to meet any of those challenges! yipe! So…"
"Hey, Diane! I wish for a MIL like yours! ;)
okay, probably not. And I like the MIL that I have just fine, even with the current challenge that she is facing and that is disrupting the whole family.
I'd find it difficult to write another…"
"It sounds wonderful, Faith. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out ways to incorporate your mom's paper art into your CQ. (Assuming it's going to be wall art and not subject to laundering!)
Good luck! Enjoy the process. :)"
"Well, the coffee grounds carried the silk into a deeper ecru color, but still nothing to really cheer about. And it caused almost no noticeable change on the cotton squares. I might have gotten more response from the cotton if I added some sort of…"
I agree with Luann- your November fabric is gorgeous! The piece that I got makes me think of a village in front of mountains. I love the design as is and will definitely have to create a work of art that uses it as a whole piece!. I'm…"
"Hi, Faith. 18" blocks are pretty big, but not unachievable. I work a lot with 12" CQ blocks, and they are a very nice size for transportability, comfort in the the lap and hand while working, etc. 18" blocks would probably be at the…"
"I've re-scrunched the silk and the cotton squares from my mushroom experiment and have them in a new experiment pot. This time I am using reclaimed coffee grounds from my local coffee shop. I got them to add to my compost pile and then realized…"
India Flint's work is definitely interesting, and I bet her methods would give interesting results. Too late to try anything like that with the mushrooms, I'm afraid. ... and I don't think I'll ever be excited to work…"
"argh. Yep, natural dyes are fugitive and temperamental. This is why the results are best when we use the dyestuffs that have been proven throughout the centuries- things like indigo and woad and logwood and osage orange and marigolds and ...well...…"
"Hi, Thee- your observations are very useful, for me at least, thank you for sharing them. :)
In general linen starts out very crisp, but it becomes progressively softer through washing, abrasion, and use. Unlike cotton, it retains significant…"
"Hi, Diane! I received your lovely lumiere on linen stenciled fabric today! What fun! I love that you are using a stencil that you created. So cool! I like the pattern of it and also how you applied the color. Just lovely and I am going to have to…"
Hi Tahlia.me again. If I go into Picassa (my pictures) I can send a picture but when I put in the address...."stitchinfingers,ning.com " it won't accept that address. What will I type into the address? Mary Wyn
I contacted Mary Corbett when I looked at the main page and she was the one who gave the rules for the whole group. She did answer me and told me that she had written to Kalona and that if she hadn't heard from her within 48 hours I was free to take over the administration of the swap. I haven't replied to her because I wanted to get the group's opinion if it was OK if I took over. It seems as though the majority who answered OK'd me, so now I will write back to Mary and tell her I am taking over and ask how to go about doing it (something you probably know since you are already in charge of some things). I wouldn't worry too much about getting permission because I am sure she already knows about the things you are in charge of. In my case I was asking her permission to take over the swap from Kalona because she just disappeared and stopped answering messages from anyone, so it was a special situation. Any help you can give me about running things would be welcome. I do want to write again to everyone in our group and let them know about the swap for the coming year and how it will be different than it was before because there will be directed things to do for some months. I will be doing a directed swap for January and will be giving out the directions after the holidays and after I get everyone signed up. It will be a lot of fun and will cost very little, if anything, because most of us already have the supplies for it. I also think that it is something that most of the members have never done. That is my hope anyway, to do things that are new and different.
