What textiles are you interested in?
The shorter answer is what aspects I'm NOT interested in. I don't care much for hand quilting (although I know how), I'm not very good at knitting, and I haven't bothered to teach myself lacemaking (yet). I've done counted cross stitch since I was very little, learned to crochet while I was laid up with a broken collarbone, and have started teaching myself other skills along the way (needle and shuttle tatting, needlepoint, crazy quilting, and knitting).
Where did you learn your textile skills?
Various places. It's a family tradition on my mom's side - she has embroidered tea towels her grandmother gave her, and I have a set made by Mom's cousin. I taught myself several others, from books or the internet, and I was lucky enough to find a Textiles class offered by the art department at the local community college last spring where I learned a few more things.

Sunset was around 7:45 pm. Far too early to go to bed, but too dark to read, even by candlelight. I came to the conclusion that if I could crochet… Continue

Finally got my pic added to my profile - it's going to be the top of a pincushion. And being as how college football season has begun, it seems appropriate to use this one. I may change the picture once the pincushion is finished to show the final view.

This is one of six pincushion tops I've crazy quilted. My mom and mother-in-law were cutting 2 1/2 inch squares of muslin, and there were a few pieces that were only 2 x 2 1/2 inches. I claimed those for pincushions. Now I just have… Continue
