I am a new knitter and looking for help in that area. Other needlework I really enjoy is tatting and would love to learn how to make bobbin lace. I do a little quilting, crochet and dabble with embroidery(stumpwork).
Where did you learn your textle skills?
A friend got me started with knitting, mother in law taught me how to crochet, self taught quilter, the following was learned as a child/teen tatting, embroidery, cross stitch, sewing.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
Mostly I am a painter but I need to be in that mood to create. So I do just about everything else in between those periods. I like to keep my hands busy all the time.
Thank you for commenting about my bracelet.
I wish I could do tatting like you so I could use it for my beadwork .
Recently I bought a tatting shuttle at an antique fair to fill my needlework box.

Love your tatting. I did it years ago but get frustrated when i make a mistake. I had trouble uploading the other photos of my needle cases i made yesterday. I needle felted some pieces of felt then embellished them with beads and sequens. We have a gift store in our art centre each Xmas and try to produce small items for sale.
I hope that you feel better. Please take care of yourself. That is the most important thing. I felled too, two week ago. I did not walk for 5 days. I feel bette now. I believe that beside the twisted ankel, bruises all over I have the no. 3 toe broken. It is getting better now. Take care, Doina
Dear Shirl, I am in Baltimore area too. In Catonsville. We have a lace group that meet every month and we have few ladies that teach bobbin lace. Let me know if you are interested. Doina
I was just looking at your slideshow and I really liked what you did with the black and white. The others are beautiful too - is that a fabric postcard?
Teneriffe - I have some templates. I've used cardboard too before I had them, but some of the lace vendors have very nice heavy plastic ones in all kinds of shapes. I got mine at a lace day and don't remember the exact one, but I thnk there's more than one. Handy Hands, Lacy Susan, The Lacemaker. I probably got mine from the last one, now that I think about it. And now that I read what you've written at the side - I see the black & white WAS a postcard!

Hi Shirl, I don't think I replied to you re templates for Teneriffe Lace- I have used my own cut out cardboard and punching holes, also about 25 years ago the manual arts section of the high school by children attended made me half a dozen shapes from some type of rigid plastic material for me; I really have no idea where you would be able to purchase them, maybe check on-line for different options. Hello Shirl, I have been browsing thru photos and discovered your tatting, they are beautiful, I began tatting many years ago when I was working for Red Cross as a diversional therapist in a hospital, but stopped as it was toooo time consuming and hard for patients to learn. But have you tried Teneriffe Lace? I have created a couple of pieces in memory of my Grandmother who did a lot of this work. Margaret
