Thanks and yes I do!!! I wish I had found it long ago. I have too many ideas for the hours in the day and because I have health problems I have to be patient and pace myself.
Thanks Odette. I did enjoy making this one, so much so that it appears to be the start of a whole series called " Higggledy Piggledy Houses". !! I even did one in glass!!!!
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. Christine, the background was made using an embellisher and then the the farm house was machine stitched on. The sheep are embellished as well
From my lovely friend Claire Cousins and by experimenting
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
Used to be a glass artist but health problems meant I needed to find another outlet for my creativity. Textile and mixed media work has proved more satisfying and expresses my design better.
Hi Mary Lou,
Thanks for your lovely comments. I used a painted background of watercolour paper reinforced with iron on vilene. Then I added 2 layers of dyed and hot gunned Lutradur - the first layers intense mid greens and then a top layer of bright greens. This gave the piece more depth. I then couched on various green threads and added 2 meat skewers wrapped in wool and ribbon and also couched on. The flowers are made from scrunched up wool and then a few clear iridescent sequins were added. The piece is called "Love in the Mist"
I only took up mixed media/textile work a couple of months ago. I was a glass artist but since developing Fybromyalgia I find working with glass too painful. I am learning as I go along with the help of lovely friends.
