Grace I always use the Japanese threads. The Indian ones tend to tarnish and the cheaper ones have a cotton inner and can split and shred much more easily. Did you ladies know that the "English" purl purl etc. comes from Japan originally. I thorou...
Rosalie, cannot find how to give you the information on supplies as your message is not here and there is no address on my email so if you would like to contact me on sandra26sandra@optusnet.com.au and let me know where you live I will give you so...
Hi everyone, this is the first blog I have done so don't know if this is the way. Please tell me if I am doing something wrong. I am very interested in all embroideries but especially goldwork. When I learn how to join flikr I will post some of the embroidery I have done. Sandy
Hi again Sandy,
I am ready to start collecting the FPCs for the Bushfire victims, and am asking everyone to send theirs to me here:

Hi Sandy,
What a wonderful idea for your Guild to collect needlework items for stitchers who have lost theirs in bushfiress here! May I ask how you will be distributing what you collect? I am a member of the Embroiders Guild of Victoria, so if you need a contact down here for them, I'm more than happy to oblige. I am due to go there next week for my monthly day on duty, so I'll ask if they are doing anything like your Guild.
Thank you all so much. I'm not directly affected by the fires (yet...they are getting closer though, and this Friday will be the deciding factor), but I think everyone in Victoria particularly, is shocked and saddened by the events unfolding, and at the same time, very touched by people in other places who have shown such care and compassion.
Hi Sandy, Pleased to hear relief has arrived with the weather. We are cooler, but no rain in sight. I don't think I will ever complain about the cold again.
Thankyou for the info on silk painting. I have experience with oil painting on canvas, but have always had a bit of fear of the watercolour type techniques - so permanent. With oils I can always scrape off something that is not working.
The idea of doing a class is a good one - maybe our local TAFE runs them. I will check it out because it does sound like fun and the effect is gorgeous.
You are a very talented lady doing so many varied artistic ventures. And to be able to teach requires extra special skills. Where do you teach?
Thankyou for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Cheers for now. Enjoy the cool - much better stitching weather.
Iris
Hi Sandy,, I have enjoyed looking at your work.
I love stumpwork, but have only done a couple of pieces.
Your work is awesome!
xoxo
((((hugs))))

Hi Sandy,
Pleased to hear you are okay and hope the cooler weather has reached you. It has been so unbearably hot. We have had the past few days cooler now and it has been a relief. I was sure I was going to melt into oblivion.
I do love the photos of your work. Was the silk painting difficult to do? I have had a book with instructions for many years, but never quite got to it. It has instructions for a kimono style gown with Australian cockatoos on it.
Just so many wonderful things to do, but not enough years in a lifetime.
By the way, it is never too late to start if you are interested in the japanese embroidery. And Merrilyn tells me there is a woman who runs classes twice a year at Tamworth.Your work is stunning and I am sure you would have no problems. I had done minimal embroidery before I started 2 years ago.
Keep safe.
Cheers, Iris
Hi Sandra, Just thought I would say hello and hope you are safe from the fires. It is just devastating to see what has happened in Victoria and NSW.
My heart goes out to all involved.
We are a little cooler in Adelaide now, but the heat will be starting again over the weekend.
Hope you safe,
Iris
Sandra, that is so kind of you and yes, I would love them. I have a gorgeous sampler to do and I have only just started. I am just not finding anyone to even knows what BE is. And the Yahoo groups have gone down, with no activity. I thank you for anything you can send me. My e-mail is MargiePhelps@worldnet.att.net
I see you also do candlewick, I have a pillow top that I just finished after many, many years. It has been stored away.
I love your goldwork
And many thanks in adavance.
