MIne arrived yesterday - That's a week to get from the UK to Australia and part of that was a weekend! What a task it must have been, cutting out all those leaves? Thanks Jane!
Leslie, I know its a bit early but your card is in the mail! I am off into hospital next week and i didn't want to miss mailing it in all the fuss that goes on with not being at home.
Over time I have dabbled in knitting, macrame, embroidery, tapestry, printing, cloth dolls, the occasional teddy and patchwork and quilting. All of these areas have contributed to making me a fabric and thread junkie - and I love to play!
Where did you learn your textle skills?
My Gran was my first tutor - she showed me how to enjoy making things and she had the patience to help a four year old to master a pair of knitting needles. Primary school introduced me to stitching and secondary to the treadle machine and making clothing. Art Major at college.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
I love to play with colour - and I am known for buying threads just because they are delicious dollops of texture not because I have a project in mind!

Robbie, Your stunning card arrived today. So many layers to explore. The turquoise yarn was a surprising pop of color. The bits of cooper were standouts. Was the yellow leaf on top a painted dryer sheet? My husband who does our laundry has been collecting dryer sheets for me and you got me inspired to explore these in more ways than I had imagined. Thank you again.
Hi Robbie,
I'm replying to your query on the Textile ATCs forum. Have you not made any ATCs before? They are along the same lines as the fabric postcards, but smaller - 2.5 x 3.5 inches to be exact. If you have a look at the blogs or photo albums of the girls in the ATC group, you'll get a pretty good idea of what they do. With the Halloween swap, I'll pair you up with another member of the group. You contact each other to exchange names and addresses, and send your ATC off when you've made it! Like FPCs, you can use anything you like to decorate your ATC - beads, felt, embroidery, material of any kind. As long as it has some kind of link to Halloween. I have a man's tie with stars and moons all over it, and I'm going to use that as a base, and stitch a black cat or a witches hat or something on to it!
Hi Robbie,
I'd love to catch up at the show...only trouble is I'm not too sure if I'm going to that one :( My money situation is a bit tight as I'm studying full time this year LOL. I'll let you know if I can make it though for sure!! How are you coping with this heat!!! NOT GOOD!! stay cool XOXOX
Welcome to Stitchin Fingers. Our stars must be aligned today!
Hope you have fun looking around at everything that is on this site, and beyond if you like looking at blogs.
