Hello Peta,
We're off to see Avitar today as a family, seems like there was lots of inspiration for you, maybe a doll in the making?
best wishes,
Jane C
I love the 18 micron from Dale. I bought a Kilo of undyed last year for fiber forum and then got there and bought a beautiful space dyed blue and green piece of prefelt with a matching dyed silk chiffon and used that for the jacket I made. Must take some photos of it and put on here. I decided a few weeks ago that it really needed a bit of stitching and did that in green silk thread. I think I need to do some felting. Too hot here today though. Do you have trouble getting stuff through customs or does it disappear in the mail.

Hi Peta, I only recently came to the US from New Zealand and I have a good supplier there for the 18 micron Merino. It's just a big hassle to get it sent over. In fact, I am almost tempted to fly back to NZ to fill up my suitcases and bring it back! I know Dale from the Thread Studio in Perth. We are in touch with each other on a regular basis. Dale is actually from NZ and I think she may be using the same supplier as I am as she visits NZ regularly.

Hello Peta,
your grandchildren are wise already to be inspired by you both. I am lucky because Jenn my daughter is secretary of our local quilt group where we are both members.
What movie did you see? Jenn and I went to see Twilight. Not relly my type of film but it's lovely to spend time together.
Best wishes,
Jane C
Good to hear that you know about Ray Slater's book. Can you give me information about Barbara's book please. Do you use water soluble plastic? It looks like you have for the flat piece of embroidery and the bracelet. (I think it's a bracelet nbut hard to see from the photo).

Hi Peta,
thanks for the positive comment about my felted jacket. I wish I still had it. Some lucky Canadian woman is walking around in it! Love your dolls. I have been going to a doll group since we came to the US from NZ. I have not actually made a doll yet but the women are fun.
Have you seen the book Clothdolls for Textile Arts by Ray Slater? It is really good and has inspired me to actually make a doll when I have a spare moment...

HI Judith
I started making cloth dolls for my daughter about 22 years ago and have been making them since. I did my first sculpted about 7 years ago. I used Barbara Willis's technique for the face onmy stump doll. It is only the second one I have ever made. Your doll is beautiful I'll look forward to seeing more of them. Practice is the key.
