Christine, you were too late to get on Dakotah's list (Michelle Mermaid), but Juliette Coates also missed out. As it is a one- to-one, why don't you email Juliette and see if she wants to swap with you this month?

Hi Sheila! Good photo, thanks for that! Actually, I envisioned the ATC in that position, with the leaf and the red flame of wool roving wafting up. You did well! :) Thanks so much for the photo and letting me know it arrived. It really got there f...

Profile Information

What aspect of textiles are you interested in?
I've been crazy quilting off and on for the past 8 years. I'm really interested in learning more hand embroidery stitches and improving on my current base of embroidery skills. I am interested in learning from others and pursuing these arts in a more artistic fashion.
I also dabble in extremely basic crochet, occassional leatherwork and beading.
Where did you learn your textle skills?
My late step-grandmother introduced me to embroidery at the age of 8. I still remember the little girl I stitched onto a tea towel while sitting in her parlour one summer day. From there I graduated to cross-stitch into my teens. When I discovered crazy quilting in my late 20s I never looked back.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
Seeing other's work is very inspirational and it is fun to find some kindred spirits here.
Oh, and as much as I love the creative expression allowed in embroidery, that love does not translate to quilting! Hand-quilting is for the birds! Actually, I'm just disappointed it does not give me the same enjoyment because it's such amazing work!

A passion for paisleys!

Hi everyone!

I thought I would add a few photos of other paisleys I've made using the same pattern on my tutorial, but with a variety of stitches, beads and sre.

Below is a paisley with Sassa Lynn thread size 5 for bullion stitch loops. But first, to make the paisley outline, I drew my paisley design and then did buttonhole stitch. I really like the way the lines of the buttonhole give that nice interior design to the outer edge. Inside each bullion loop is a cultured pearl. Two bullion roses… Continue

Dakotah's Beaded Paisley Tutorial

Hi everyone!

After posting a couple photos of my beaded paisley on CQInternational yahoo group I was asked by Jo (New Zealand) to write up a tutorial. Funny, because I had already planned to do one. Ah, I love how great minds think alike!
Anyway, here it is:

Thank you for your kind comments about flat cae and braelet.
I like both beads and buttons so it is fun to use them together.

Hi Dakotah. Yes, the 6-1/4x4-1/2 clear envelopes are perfect for postcards. They slip into the envelope nicely even with a little bulk on them. I have a small town Postmistress, so there's no problem having her hand cancel the stamp before I seal the envelope and they appear to go through the mail just fine. Haven't heard otherwise anyway!

Michelle,

Thanks for the encouragement. The receptivity and warmth of the fiber art community certainly makes it a supportive place for learning, experimenting, flubbing, and dubbing.
