Profile Information

What aspect of textiles are you interested in?
SILK! I'm learning to embroider with flat silk in a Chinese thread-painting style. I also weave (tablet weaving) and knit, and want to learn lots more textile things. I tend to favor forms where I can get a realistic representation on fabric, and I like lettered work.
Where did you learn your textle skills?
Texas, USA

Hi, I´m happy to find another guy in the community. Your work is amazing. This is the first time I meet someone who makes his own fibers. Congratulations!

Thanks, Jane!

I'm still constantly amazed by silk - the more I learn, the cooler it is.

Hi Michael, I love the header photo on your page here!
There's a quote by Ugo Betti...." When you want to believe in something, you also must believe in everything that's necessary for believing in it".
Obviously you do!
I went to your web page and got a glimpse of what your heart believes in.To take this medium from it's very beginnings is awesome, a hobby in and of it's self that breathes of a whole new level to me... what a journey you're on with this!

PS. See you around the Hand Embroidery Group, I'll be watching the progression of your fiber travels...

Michael, I've just been touring your blog and your site. Your work is really cool and I'm glad you've landed here. Not sure if you've ever looked into studying Japanese embroidery...even if you're not interested in stitching "japanese" pieces, the education is terrific.

Your weaving is very intriguing. I would love to be able to weave my own bands and things like you have done. They're just beautiful...

Michael are you the guy that left a comment on my blog - must be an age ago now about spinning your own silk? raising the worms, de-gumming the works?

Michael! Hi, there! Good to see you here!!

I had to laugh at your header.... when I first saw it, I thought "A white bat?" But then I remembered those darling bombyx mori beasts that make that fiber I LOVE to stitch with!

In fact, that's an incredible photo - did you take it?? And is that your silk it's crawling on??

Thank you. I find flat silk the absolutely most difficult fiber to stitch with.
