- What aspect of textiles are you interested in?
- I make what I call Mixed Media Art Doll Quilts, though they aren't really quilts. I start with fabric for the background and embellish with whatever works. I also like to sew small dolls, etc. Though I have done cross stitch and embroidery, I find I lose interest in them quickly. I absolutely can not knit or crochet. I have tried and it was not pretty!
- Where did you learn your textle skills?
- My grandmother taught me while I was living with her as a child. She was a homemaker, but took in a lot of alteration work for pocket money. She had sewn clothes and shoes while working at an orphanage while young. My only regret was that she never really enjoyed sewing for the art, only for utilitarian reasons. I expanded on my own out of boredom with "following the pattern".
- Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
- Not only do I enjoy crafting and sewing, I also very much enjoy looking at the work of others. I like to participate in hand made swaps and enjoy having the items I receive around me. I also like trying all sorts of new crafts.
