About Me

I am a hobbyist embroiderer, crazy quilter and tatter. I enjoy sharing Silk Ribbon Embroidery Patterns I've designed, and creating Tutorials to help others. I also love sharing what I'm currently working on at my blog.
I began my journey in June 2006 with a Silk Ribbon Embroidery kit bought from my local craft store. Quickly falling in love with the art, my journey began and soon started designing my own SRE motifs. Soon after, I learned of Crazy Quilting, and was intrigued with the way it used many methods of needlework and embellishment to create one-of-a-kind works of art. Along the way I picked up a few other needle arts including Tatting, a Victorian form of lacemaking.
I am a Christian, I have a personal relationship with God and He fills me with peace, love, and joy! Married to my wonderful husband, who is my very best friend. We live in the desert with our two dogs in our own garden oasis.

Sweet Dreams Pillowcase Set

Well I'm half way done with one pillowcase in the set!!! LOL I'm not going to get both done in time to send them together but I'm gonna try getting at least one done. So one can go for a birthday gift and the other as a Christmas gift! LOL
OH and since I was getting puckering with my spring hoop I switched to a tighter hoop and that seems to help it.

Decorated Gift Bag

I created this gift bag to put the 3 red and white lady ornaments into for the exchange!
What I did was get a plain gold and silver gift bag and printed out a scene of ladies fashions and glued that to the bag. Then I glued lace to the top and bottom edges, and embellished the print with glitter, feathers, etc. I wanted to do this special bag so that whoever would pick the bag already loving it, will probably also love the contents! LOL
Click on the photo to see the details a bit better.

Even more lady ornaments!

I've really been enjoying myself making these ornaments! I really love the cream and red ladies I think she is also going on my own tree this year! LOL
I made a set of three red, white, with silver ladies for the gift exchange. I figured those colors are more typical of most tree decors. I'm also embellishing a gift bag to put them in I'll share that with you all when it is finished!

Thank you for your prompt and info filled reply. I did discover that you can buy ribbon online, but I've hestitated not being sure it was what I really wanted/needed. I had hopes of finding local stores that would sell it but haven't found any. The craft stores in MD, USA sell ribbon embroidery books ideas (and they are very good), but they do not sell the right kind of ribbon. Thanks again, Melissa.

Melissa,
I have done ribbon embroidery from kits (three), but I have not been able to find any more kits. I've bought some idea books, too, but I am having a problem finding the pliable silk ribbon needed for projects. I live in the USA (MD). Can you guide me to places where this ribbon can be purchased and/or places that sell kits?

I found, accidentally, about ten years ago Judith Baker Montano's books on crazy quilting and silk ribbon embroidery - and was hooked on the SRE! They are the best of the instruction and inspirational books I've seen! Her Silk Ribbon Embroidery and Elegant Stitches are both great.

Grrrr....lol! I was afraid of that. I already have a book, now I just have to find it! When I do find my book on SRE I'll let you know and see what your opinion on it is. I especially will want to know if it is good for a beginner or not.

OMGoodness, Melissa! I don't even remember you inviting me! LOL! What is the deal with that? Maybe I felt like I needed to be doing other handwork besides tatting before I joined! Well, maybe I can just be here and learn from all these fabulouse needleworkers and well, like you said, I'm here now! Glad to be here!
