Elf Shoes!

"Thank you Ann. IT's a bit hot here for elves to be wearing these here at the moment, but come winter I imagine the local elves will all be demanding new shoes!"

ABOUT MEG

I'm a stitcher, artist and knitter who has always enjoyed creating things — as a child it was little models, teddy bear clothes, stitched items, gum-nut dolls, and other crazy little creations. I have sold little craft items for as long as I can remember — when I was a kid it was often only for a dollar or so, so that I could buy supplies to make more!

In 2008, I was inspired to pick up an embroidery needle again by my husband's lovely aunty and also a dear friend in England, both incredibly talented ladies.

I feel blessed to be forging an occupation out of my creative interests, and I am very grateful to my wonderful husband for having the confidence to let me run wild with it. I work as a freelance book illustrator (all types of books, from public policy to poetry to children’s stories), and I undertake other parts of the pre-publishing process (including editing, book lay-up, and ghostwriting).  I also take commissions (paintings, embroideries, etc), and sell my art and hand made items at exhibitions and at a wonderful local gift shop.

Thank you for your comment meg.  It depends on which end of the rayon you thread through the needle as to whether it untwists or not.  I love working with these.

Hello Meg, Thank you for your kind words about my silk paper work.  I have loved looking through your treasures on line and so admire the beautiful work you do. You have such a talent for putting wonderful blends of colours together.  I see you are a kiwi and as an ex-pat now living in Queensland (but with frequent trips home to revive the spirit!) it is a special thrill to admire your talents.  I hope you will accept me as a friend so I can follow your work on a regular basis. Kind regards Frances McLeary

thanks Meg re the crazy quilting books. Have looked them up Carol Samples is £360.46 new or £83.37 used!! and Linda Causee is £49.99 so I am afraid they are both out of my price bracket. I have one by Judith Monatno Elegant stitches which  has a section on crazy stitches. Will pop into the library next time I am in the city centre and see what they can come up with

Hello Meg, and welcome here to SF.  Thank you so much for your generous comments regarding my stitching.  Your work is breathtaking, truly breathtaking, and I am so pleased you found SF.  Your photos are lovely.  I have been absent for a few days, but will spend some time now looking at the lovely pieces you are sharing here.  Cheers from a beautiful autumn day in southern Queensland.
