Hi Cara, I'm sure that they are sewn on. It looks to me as though she machine stitched the lines with metallic thread and then went back and sewed the beads on by hand. Maureen
FYI - Nancy Eha is starting to make free videos of different beading techniques. I believe she has them up on her website beadcreative.com If not, just email her from there to ask where you can see them. I think this is a great idea...Maureen
Hi Marjolein, Thank you for your nice comments. The pansy is 29" high and 27" wide and the piecing is done in silk dupioni and silk shantung. The link to my blog is on "my page" and I have close ups of the pansy there. Thanks again, Maureen
I really like using the bullion stitch. It's fun to make and just seems to add a lot to some areas, even in the middle of ribbon embroidery. For the same reason, I also like the cast on and double cast on stitches. This really made me think about ...
Hi Maureen, I have been a little awol tooo! Thanks for the compliments, I check your blog once a week to see what creative wonders you are up too! Christen

Hi Maureen, thanks for your comment regarding my little embroidered christmas decorations, they were a lot of fun to make :-)
Cheers, Claire
How good to hear from you. Life seems to race past me,,,much to quickly. Wrinkles.....ugh...wish mine were only on my neck! BUT, I will keep them, if it means that I can keep waking, healthy, every morning.
Your pic is beautiful...just like all the things you make.
I really like these communtities, but they would fall to dust if everyone were like me. I never cease to be amazed at the prolific crafters who manage this, the lists and some very nice blogs....and still produce. I may have to go back to the days (when I had a family to care for) of getting about 4 hours sleep a night...if I was lucky.
Every year gifting gets harder....ideas, not money. Plus the fact that I am not (and do not care to be) up on the current toys...I question that term, too. So I give money. For years I would hide the Christmas cash, for the grandchildren, in something like a Christmas ball, bowl of walnuts, bag of M&Ms, pens....ad infinitum. It was the kids' job to find the cash...not always easy. As there were several of about the same age, #2 son offered a reward to the first to figure the key. Of course it got so that they expected to have to search ...finally the stories about the 'canny Granny gifts' made it impossible for me to fool anyone. But it was fun while it lasted! (The walnuts....it means carefully cracking the nuts, removing nutmeat and replace with a folded bill...then nut resealed and placed in a bag of nuts!!!! ......10$ = 10 one dollar bills! After on or two they got smart and hefted the nuts, choosing only the lighter ones. Worked pretty good for them!
This year, as all the kids, tall and small (all great grands) are very much into stuffed animals. Now girls are the majority,...for years were was only one girl. So the amigurumi will act as the delivery methods, this year. Not concealed, tho'........little saddles I think. So.....as I need 9 I am madly crocheting and knitting. Fun tho'. The great- grands were not around for the secret gift idea.
For so long my gimpy paw inhibited my crafting, but, tho' not perfect, there is nothing that I cannot do. After Christmas I am getting back to the bobbin lace...I really miss that, But, in the interum I have learned SO MANY new things.
Back to my giraffe..then I have some animals to stuff that must be mailed. Maybe I will get on line again ( I always read) and write one of the people who probably think I am dead ;-D)))))
Have a wonderful Season and super New Year. So many wonderful things and terrific people out there to make life pleasant. Even the least of us is so lucky.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.......
Barb
Hi Maureen, welcome to Stitchin Fingers and to the hand embroidery group. I haven't seen your website, but reading Susan's comment I'd like to visit. If you add the url to your profile, it will create a link on your home page :)
Hope you have fun here, I look forward to seeing you in the Hand embroidery group.
Hi Maureen! I'm so glad you've shown up here! I'm an old and very good customer from your old website -- I still have many of your pieces in my "inspiration file" and admire your work greatly. I also miss your newsletters and, in particular, the work of Shirlee Fassell. I noticed she was published in the $100,000 quilt Challenge mag -- it seems as though she isn't online though because I've tried to find her. I'd love to meet both of you one day so if you're ever down this way in Baltimore, let me know. It's also nice to put your pretty face with your name. I hope to get to "see" you more around...Happy stitches, Susan Elliott
Hi Maureen, I joined just a few days ago, after being invited months ago! I'm new(ish) to Patchwork and Quilting, and have done a little bit of crazy patchwork but prefer more 'structured' patchwork, or 'art quilt' type work. I'm originally an embroiderer, so can see where you are coming from on the embellishment front. Hope you join in some swaps or discussions.
