In 2007 Sharon Boggon ran a challenge - Take a Stitch on Tuesday. TAST appears to be great for the beginners among us as the stitches are explained in great detail and with many photos to help someone master them. Everyone is welcome to join us.
I have recently become interested in embroidery on paper. I also like to play with dyes and paints on fabric and pastel painting. I joined the group Knit4Charity on Yahoo and in any spare moments I can be found knitting small projects. My hands can't take the weight of larger items.
I like colour and contrast in my textile work, hence my love of painting or dyeing backgrounds.
Where did you learn your textle skills?
I learned bobbin lace and tatting with Wanneroo Lacemakers, a local group under the umbrella of Australian Lace Guild
I learned embroidery from my mother
I credit dyerslist with most of my hand dyeing skills
I joined the Pastel Society for help with my painting and have since joined a couple of other groups near home.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
My husband has recently left me and I am finding pastel painting and textile work are a great comfort. Not sure if I will be able to carry on as money is going to be very tight.

HI -I see that you are new also. I noticed the beautiful flowers on the square on the page. Is it fabric? It is gorgeous. I have never heard of embroidery on paper--sounds interesting. Do you draw you,re own designs? Make cards? Sounds cool. Tell me about it. Kate Muhlenhardt Cheers!
Hi Maureen, nice to see someone else from Perth! I grew up not far from your area. Good luck with selling your scarves at the artist market. Hope you'll keep in touch.
