My Finest Creations

This is my first post here; I joined and then went off on what I lightly refer to as my 'Convocation Tour' -- including the convocations of my children (My Finest Creations) -- photos posted on my blog (above).

I've decided I need at least another 200 years on the planet in order to get done the stuff I want to do/learn/see. I am excited beyond belief about so much! Contemporary Embroidery (I have a Level 1 Certificate from Gail Harker Creative Studies Center), 'encrusted' embroidery (thanks, sharon b!), art quilting (I am a new 'Acitve Member' of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates)...about putting my work 'out there', about developing a 'body of work'...

The photo you see of me is with my late mother, Margaret Ruth Davison Rennie Daniel (yes, married twice; went by her second name, Ruth), who knit and sewed and cooked wonderful meals...always claiming to follow patterns and/or recipes -- not daring to go 'free-form'...but from whom I learned to knit, embroider, cross-stitch and sew...(the quilting was a natural extension, via my father's sister, Alice)...

I truly believe our Finest Creations always come from our DNA...even if it's skipped a generation or two. We are here to create what speaks to us down the years, through fingers made nimble from the practice of ancestors, from ideas given to us by the Great Creator either directly or through, again, those ancestors...every bit of creativity, I think, unites original ideas/thought with ancient skill/craft...and goes forth, imbued with meaning for the future.

I'm happy to be part of this!

Well I could be MargB from B(risbane) and you MargB from C. My, what a considerable amount of work you have done! Yes I believe in inheritance too - maybe example has some part.
