Terry said… Marceil, thank you for clarifying your teachers for JE and beading. You say you struggle between the few classes you have spread throughout the year, and I don't doubt you, but I must say that the quality of your stitching is superior for one who has completed just a few pieces, and who has few opportunities to get help and instruction. I would never think that you "struggled" to complete these embroideries as you have. You definitely have a talent, and I encourage you to continue in your beautiful work.
Terry said… I'm very fortunate that my sensai, Tonie Evans, lives practically in my backyard. In fact, I pass her house every weekday on my way back and forth to my office. How's that for convenience? Do not worry about the time. I've been at it for over 11 years now, and I'm still only on Phase 9. It's not a race, but a beautiful journey...(at least, I keep telling myself that). I've never met Carl Newman, but I keep hearing wonderful things about him. You are lucky to have him as your JE teacher. Linda is your beading instructor? I bought my first beading kit about 3 months ago. Not sure when I will take a beading class. Probably after I start my Phase 10. Maybe one day we will meet at the JE center in Atlanta. Were you in Atlanta this past month at the beading class?
Terry said… Marceil, it is always great to see others' Japanese Embroidery on Stitchin Fingers! Who is your JE teacher? Your work is excellent....you have a real talent for JE work. I love the Camellia piece, and may do it myself one day. I did the pansie piece for my Phase 7. Thanks for joining Stitchin Fingers and sharing your beautiful work.
