TAST Weeks 1-4

"Nice sampler. I like how using a cloth like this keeps the stitches even and uniform. "

TAST so far

I've been away for a couple of weeks, and have just caught up with the TAST Project. I've done some samples of the four stitches so far, using 1, 2 and 3 strands of cotton thread and varying the width and length of the stitches. The plan is to put these samples in a book with some notes and a design for using each stitch. Whether I will ever have time to do all the designs is another matter! I've put a photo on the main site, but have hopefully included it here as well.…See More

I have loved doing embroidery for as long as I can remember, and used my skills to great advantage as a teenager in the 70's to embroider my own clothes! After many years of not doing any embroidery I discovered the Embroiderers Guild and was inspired to take it up again.

It's good to meet someone who is new to the site! I suspect that many people around our age learned to embroider around the same time. It just seems like one of those things a mother taught. Of course, I tried to teach my daughter and she really didn't have much interest. She preferred to use embroidery thread for friendship bracelets, and that was good too! Good to meet you Mandy!

Hi Mandy,

I am new to the site and just making a few contacts.

I see you have discovered the EG, I had a lovely afternoon just before Christmas with a local one, learning Shisha work, I thought I knew a lot about it - three different stitches, but as always you learn something new everyday, so now I am perfecting a fourth method!

Tina
