What aspect of textiles are you interested in?
Anything quilts! My passion is quilt-making. My beginnings were with traditional quiltmaking and my first quilt was made 33 years ago. I still create traditional quilts, but also design artistic quilts. Recently purchased a long arm, so I have a new avenue to explore.

A long term goal is to continue using my stash -- and I LOVE SCRAPS! Other fiber interests include needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery, hand dyeing, collage...Fiber! Texture! Color!! I love it all!
Where did you learn your textle skills?
I was very impressed with my mother's sewing when I was young. By the time I was 8 years old, I began working with fabrics and other fibers. Early on, I learned where and how to use 'stash' and found objects.

Small sewing projects like doll clothes were a favorite creative hobby as a young girl. I also enjoyed making collages.Other childhood fiber projects included small loom weaving.

In junior high school, I began sewing my clothes. I've stitched garments ever since, then branched out to quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, crewel, knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, and some more weaving. Anything textile!

Last night football finals were on TV, and I watched the computer monitor instead, spending an hour or so looking at your blog.
Spent a lot of that time reading and looking at all the references to antique quilts and the history of quilting. I design all my own quilts using blocks I have also designed, but I love finding out more about what came before. Thank you for a pleasant and informative evening.
Just don't ask who won the footy!

The 'too many bears' quote started life as a quote from Imelda Marcos, but she said 'You can't have too many shoes, or too many friends.' I like the second bit, but I hate shopping for shoes!

Hi Lynn - Many thanks for your lovely and encouraging comments! I think your idea for a "many sides" or the "many faces" of a person is brilliant! I really look forward to seeing the finished product!! Cheers! Charlotte

Hi Lynn - Yoooooou are sooooo kind!! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments!! Made my day!! It's funny - I started making these wee faces (approx. 3" x3") because I was disappointed with a quilt I'd begun - it was to be all stars - one star per block - maybe that's why it was so disappointing? Whatever, I thought I'd try to "do something" to make it "sing" and that's when I got the idea of men & women in the stars - ie. If there's a man in the moon, why not men & women in the stars? Originally, I was only going to make as many faces as the quilt required, BUT (and it is a big "but"!!) I became really quite addicted to making the silly, wee things!! I must have made 40+!! Eeek! Still, I love to make cards, so that's why I am using them on cards, too. Cheers! Charlotte

PS - Forgot to mention that the quilt that got the masks started remains..."in progress" - Read: UNfinished!! Double Eeek!!

Hi Lynn, thanks for coming to my blog and commenting. The quilt in my banner is from a mystery quilt by Bonnie from Quiltville. I really like her scrappy quilts.

Hello Lynn, How nice to received your lovely comment on the Autumn Leaf wedding quilt. This quilt was paper-pieced and it took me about 6 months working on it everyday to complete, just 2 weeks before their wedding. vbg I used about 5 different fabrics in every leaf block. If I remember correctly I used about 106 different fabrics in the quilt. I also used some gum leaf fabric I bought in Australia too. It was professionally machine quilted with metallic thread and she put in all the veins to the leafs. She did a lovely job of the machine quilting. On the back of the quilt I applique on all the Best wishes/ signatures blocks from the wedding party along with the history of the quilt. Jenny and Shane was very appreciative and love the quilt. vbg Hugs Judy
