"What fabulous colours! Choc full of warmth and life somehow. I popped over from Annets blog and can see where she got her inspiration from for her piece. Amazing to see such different styles with similarities never the less."

"I was too Ruth. But I seem to be moving towards using the wool as a fabric by laying it down now, with stitches and voiles laid over and either embellished or stitched over. There were some dartmoor pics at K&S, had to put them on my blog, theyd…"

Hi folks

I use tactile textures at work making resources for visually impaired children on our caseload.Which is great cos Im an obsessive textile/ textured/altered kind of biddy, so my work and home skills merge. Its like therapy to me, keeping me off street corners and far cheaper ~ almost, than a pshyciatrist. Though I no longer add up costs, so that may no longer be true!I work mostly with recycled materials myself but cough, cough, have been known to buy new ones.......of courseAm in east yorkshire…See More

Ive both wet felted, embellished and fulled woollies so am not new to the craft but only just sussed how to join this inner group ~ so obv not that clever at all !!It was nice yesterday to see several roving pictures at the knitting & stitching show for once where it hadnt been fully felted in, but had been used creatively as a picture in its own right.Am going to put pics on my blog with names etc later today. One lady had captured dartmoor fabulously and her dark water fall was just…See More

Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
Tactile anythings basically and textiles, mostly recycled materials but have succumbed to buying new!
My stash is a whole bedroom/workroom and overspilled in another room......like serious mountains?
Obsessional? Me? Maybe .....
Where did you learn your textile skills?
Developed them msyelf over many years, took various workshops with clever folks and then have added my own twists and simply try things out to see 'if' this or that will work.
Obviously have shed loads of books and find inspiration all around me, how can we not!
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I devise and make tactile learning resources for visually impaired kids as a day job, so able to craft all things, 3D models, brailled tactile books etc. My therapy to get along in life, is creating and crafting mixed media and fabrics.
Fave topic.........sea shore/sea/corals
fave colours ..... shades of calming greens, hues of blue and lilacs
Got the embellisher, done the wet felting and ready to share and learn

I started the blog so the kids might have sumthing to read about me and what I 'do', when Im gone lol

but its become a chart of what I do craft wise more than anything. I doubt the kids will ever have time to sit and read what Im about!

I devise and make tactile educational learning resources for predominantly visually impaired bairns and call myself a

'CL-artist' .....but do all sorts of other crafts for my own therapy beyond work.

I say it keep me off street corners but in… Continue
