Susan said… Hello Kathy, Japanese embroidery is a beautiful technique but I do not know of any on-line classes. I have attended classes off and on for 13 years and I would suggest a hands-on class would be the best way to learn. Go to the link Jane has given for more info. Good luckand happy stitchin!

Jane said… Hi Kathy, welcome to the Japanese embroidery group. Saw above you'd asked about on-line classes. As far as I know there aren't, but if you check out www.japaneseembroidery.com you will find a list of teachers by area and you can contact them directly.

Carol Daisy said… Kathy, Hi I have just got back online and received your emails. Glad to hear you wish to learn silk ribbon embroidery, and am sure once you start will be addicted to it as most of us are. If you would like to go to my blog http://caroldaisy.blogspot.com/ and on the right hand side is the list of postings go to beginning with sre. This will give you some help in beginning and there also are hints which may be of help to you. The simplest stitch to begin with is Detached Chain ( Lazy Daisy ) then Ribbon Stitch and Spider Web Rose. In my online store are packs of Ribbons with a mixture of colours to begin with, and you can venture onto purchasing other ribbons once you feel more confident. Hope this is of help and email if there are any probs. Carol Daisy.
