Where did you learn your textle skills?
I'm self-taught but my interested started with my great-grandmother who I started to learn to piece with after I graduated from college. After her death and that of my grandmother i honored them by making a quilt, all hand done except for putting on th binding. It took me 10 years to complete it between working and having children.
In 2004 I started getting serious about quilting and took weekly classes with Juanita Yeager at her home...Even though I don't take many workshops I do invest in books on technique and treat going throum them as I would a formal class.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
mother of 3, grandmother of 2, partner to 1. love reading, genealogy, justice, poetry, curious about whatever i don't know :)
When I make mine I also put in small pieces of hand dyed silk tissue/gauze. It's the finest silk you can get. Dhama Trading sells it here in the US. They do two weights and I actually use the heavier one of the two and the lightest one practically disintegrates if you work with it. I also use some very, very lightweight merino roving. I have not been able to get it here in the US. It is 18 micron. So I am using up the stash I brought with me!
woops, I clicked on your Obama Utube clip and seem to have mucked it up ~ sorry. Glad to see that you mentioned Justice in your profile information. I worked for 20 years in the UK around issues of justice and equality and it these issuea are still very close to my heart.
What is the brand of the water soluble plastic you use? I have tried a number of US brands but they seem to leave a sticky residue. I brought mine with me from New Zealand and it was really good but now I have run out.
Welcome to stitchin fingers. Hope you enjoy the company.
I have just enjoyed a quick look at your blog, and would love to see more photos on the Eyepiece blog!
