Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
I'm interested in surface embellishment. I dye some of my own fabrics and I do use a fair amout of batiks for some projects. If I can embellish using a machine, I will do so. I also make 3-D objects.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
Mostly self taught.
I did complete a three year hand embroidery course with 5 levels. The original designer of the course, Bunty Severs, was a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework. Bunty's specaility was goldwork. She passed away this summer (2009). We miss her!
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I am a retired primary school teacher who is now a textile artist. I design & create one-of-a-kind pieces as well as some wearable art. I have won national as well as provincial awards for my work.
