Don't worry Judi, you will soon find your way around. There is not 'right' or 'wrong' way and everyone is really friendly and helpful so just enjoy :-)
I see you joined our Japanese Embroidery Group. If you've don't know much about that stitching discipline look into it a bit. It's fascinating, intense, unique and lovely! My avatar is one of my Japanese Embroider class projects, Phase VII of ten. I'm just finishing Phase VIII and will spend all of next year working on Phase IX, which includes all of the techniques we've been taught as a preparation for the Graduation Class, Phase X, which we take in late October or early November at the Japanese Embroidery Center in Atlanta. I'll keep watch out for more comments from you - welcome to the group.
Hi Judy, welcome to Stitchin Fingers. I've been flicking around some of the comments about Michiko's yubinuki. Is see that Michiko and Jeanne have answered your request for information, I thought I would answer some of your questions about SF.
It can be a bit confussing at first but you will soon find your way around. You can read all the comments and discussions and see all the pictures. Where ever you see a 'Leave a comment' box, you are free to comment and it will appear there. So, if the box is below a picture you are viewing, the comment will stay with the picture. Your request for information is with one of Michiko's pictures. Similarly, if you are on a members page, the comment will show there. That is how I have left this comment for you. The one exception is when you are on your own page. If you use the 'Leave a comment for Judi Anderson' box, it will appear here, if you click on the 'Comment back' button under a comment, it will appear on the page of the person who left the comment for you.
You can read and join in with discussions on the forum.
You can read comments and discussions in all of the groups but you can only contribute to them if you are a member of that group. It is easy to join a group, just click the 'Join this Group' button on the groups home page.
Hi Judi,
Thank you for your comments.Yubinuki making is quite popular in Japan now and
it is possible to get books or instructions but they are in Japanese! You could try www.temarikai.com;look for "thingsjapanese" on the top tool bar;then choose "yubinuki"where they are simple instructions in English.
Hope that helps;if not get back to me.
Michiko

I has a description of the thimbles, pictures and an general outline of how they're made. They are quite beautiful, aren't they? I had never seen one before and was intrigued by your question, so I looked on Google and found this site. Good luck - I'd like to hear if you get instructions and patterns for these thimbles, I would love to make one, too!'
I didn't see your comment on the stitching fingers website, but did get an e-mail copy. Where did you place your information request?
