ISO Kant magazine 2005/4

Is there anyone who could sell/lend me this issue of Kant magazine? I had a subscription but issue 4 of 2005 never showed up. The people at Kantcentrum weren't interested at the time, and they're not willing to sell me a single issue now. They will only sell me the full set for 2005. I'm not keen on buying three magazines that I've already got, just for the sake of getting the one that's missing. If you're willing to lend me a copy, you'll find that I'm very good at returning things that I've…See More

"Iris, your Resonance Cords piece is mind-bogglingly good, as I knew it would be. I'd love to see it when I'm in Adelaide in September. You're a blessing and inspiration to the rest of us stitchers in Heather's class. John"

Puncetto

There's a fascinating video on Youtube of a woman making puncetto lace. Does anyone know where I might find instructions/designs? Needless to say, the video doesn't give enough detail. The lace is made with an needle and thread, and forms interesting geometric shapes. It seems a bit more "square" than the Mediterranean knotted lace discussed elsewhere. Thanks, John.

Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
Started with canvas work many years ago. Got into JE in 2000.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
Did Ph 1 with Mary Dick Digges in Wellington, NZ, in 2000. Then did a couple of classes with Lesley Sullivan in West Australia. Since then I have worked very happily with Heather Sterling in Adelaide.
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
Should have done Ph 10 a few years ago, but my life probably won't allow that opportunity. Still love the silk work, but I've recently surprised myself by getting into the Japanese beading too.

Hi John,I have just returned from a 20 day cruise through the Mediteranian. We had a lovely time but were completely exhausted, with only 3 sea days out of the 20. We actually went into 9 countrys. We then spent 5 days in HongKong with our son and his Japanese girlfriend, that was wonderfull. You can imagine not much stitching has been done. My Wisteria and Chrysanthemum is looking great, it really is a lovely piece. I hope to see you when you come to Adelaide for your next stitching time.
Cheers for now Bev.

Thanks for the comment, John!
I hope I will really be able to steadily take all the phases in the next 10 years, along with all my other plans. My hands are so full, I need to grow a few more pairs. lol!
Enjoy stitching and braiding or weaving!

Hi John, My pieces have finally arrived, I am very happy with them so I have a lot of stitching to do now. I just came accross this sight and thought you might be interested if you havn't already seen it. www.weirdollsandcrafts.com/kunihimo/kumihino. I have actually got the disk I bought in England in 1999 and have made a couple of braids, but I don't seem to have time to make many as I already do Temari and Yubinuki Thimbles along with our embroidery.
I hope everything is well with you and your mother.
Merry Christmas Bev.

Hi John

I saw on Jane's page that you have finished the Poppy Pouch and are about to start Phase IV.

I have very nearly finished Calm Flow. I have 1, maybe 2 hours of beading left to do. I will be starting Poppy Pouch on September 26 so I should have just enough time to get the prep done. I just loved Calm Flow. I like all forms of couching so fully expected to enjoy couching the rows of beads. What surprised me was how much I've enjoyed the random beads. Random anything normally paralyses me.

I have also purchased Phase IV. I'll be doing the bag, I think that it is just beautiful but can fully understand why you don't want too many beaded bags :-).

My friend Sue is doing the Peacocke mat. We were drooling over her beads a couple of weeks ago. I could be very tempted to do that one as well as Floral Melody. Sue is hoping to have hers mounted into a tray.

I feel I need to do some more silk embroidery. It has been a bit neglected will I satisfy my need for beads!

Have a great time in Adelaide.

Hi John, am feeling that I have lost track with what everyone is up to here on stitchin fingers, so am going through all my friends list and doing a bit of catch up. Had visitors last weekend Sue and Carol-Anne both from the JE group here, Sue had brought her poppy pouch beads with her to show us, they are lovely and very tactile, but I think I'll stick to my silks!
I attended the JE phase 10 and teacher class in August, completely mind blowing going back over all the techniques again in fine detail. Just have to crack on with Kusudama now.
Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying/enjoy the class as Heathers in September and had a good time catching up with everyone. What are you working on at the moment?

Hi John, I just wanted to say hello again and that we are looking forward to seeing you at Heather's in Sept. Good news ! I have finished my phase 10. I am quite pleased with the results so now I can relax and stitch with out the pressure of finishing each phase one after each other.Margaret only has a couple of weeks and she will be finished too.
I am having a partial knee replacement on 18th Aug. but I should be recovered by the time you come to Adelaide. It will be nice to see what you have been doing since your last visit.I am stitching Golden Chrysanthemum now, I had started that before phase 10, but put it aside fir a while.
See you in Sept. Bev.

Hi John. Iris was telling me that you are beading the Poppy Pouch. How is it coming along?

I just began JBE a couple of months ago. I am doing (nearly finished) the Phase I eye glass case. I really am enjoying it and have been totally seduced by the beads. Unfortunately, the center have run out of the original fabric and now supply the design printed only a plain weave red cotton. I don't thank that it is as stricking as when worked on the print but now that I am filling in the background with the green and black beads it is coming alive.

Do you have any pictures of your work? What are you currently working on besides the beading?
