I like "Caron Collection" threads/fibers. Check it out: http://www.caron-net.com/threads.html I use their Wildflowers, Impressions, Waterlilies, and Soie Christail for crazy quilting. I have used Water Colors for some "counted thread" work. Jody

Hi Janice, I have several colors of the Rubi pearl cotton and I like it. It stitches as nice as DMC and Anchor. I use it for crazy quilting so I don't wash it. The colors are nice and the price is right to get a variety or colors. I have purchased…

I like to do many different crafts, but always come back to stitching. We have two Australian Shepherds: Penne and Sydney, they are rescues. I run agility with Penne. We go to class once a week and have participated in a few agility trials. Hope to do a few more agility trials this fall.

CQ Round Robin - Round 3 Completed

I finished stitching on the third block of the CQ Round Robin. This block was the most comfortable block so far. I really like the colors and theme.

There was a good sized purple/lavender patch, inviting me to stitch this motif. I used "solvy" to show me where to place the stitches. I would like to try tissue paper the next time I stitch a large motif. Solvy works but kind of messy to remove. This is only a portion of the motif, as we are allowed to only show "sneak peeks", so that the owner of… Continue

CQ Round Robin - Round 2

Round 2 of the HGTV Board CQ Round Robin is well underway. I am about to stitch on a block for OJM, she has created this block for her young daughter. It is very pretty and very girly, will be a lot of fun to stitch.

Seems I've been busy with the Thanksgiving Holiday and my day job, hope to get some quality stitching time in soon.

This time change, from daylight savings, is killing me. It is dark by 3:30 in the afternoon and VERY dark by the time I get home from work (6:00/7:00). I eat dinner… Continue

Hi Jody,I saw your question about stumpwork I have just learnt it and love it. It really isn't hard once you are shown what to do. Is there any chance of you having lessons? Jane Nicholas has some very good books which are very clear. I love making the little wired petals and leaves and if you followed her instructions I am sure you would have no trouble. I know it looks daunting at first.

Judy, I went to the local quilt guild twice, however, found they had their tight groups formed, and DID NOT relate to CQ AT ALL...looking at me as if I had rocks in my head. That took care of that! Also attended the embroidary guild, and their whole focus was counted cross stitch. My freeform embroidary, ie, a grapevine wreath covered with flowers was so foreign, they did not welcome the difference. So, I am staying home, and enjoying Chick flicks with my greys! Just made a beaded bracelet, since I have poison ivy on my hand, larger pieces of fabric touch it...just beading a ribbon was easier to control. xo

Hi Jody, glad to see a place I am familiar with. We lived in Gurnee, the frozen north, for 3 years while my hubby was stationed at Great Lakes. Also, the music company Darcey Press is out of Libertyville. I have 3 compositions they deemed worthy to publish. Also, 2 rescued greyhounds. My last grey I adopted in Wisconsin. She died in June, now we have TWO!!!!! They keep me busy: 2 toddlers.... a 2 mile walk EVERY morning! This is wonderful, for the discipline is necessary at my age, almost 64. Is there a crazy quilt guild near you? We do not have any here in Augusta,Ga that I can find. Be Blessed!!!!!
