Hand work - embroidery, cross stitch, applique, stumpwork..
Where did you learn your textile skills?
Both my grandmother and my mother were/are avid seamstresses. I grew up surrounded by textiles.
I studied Textiles at the Alberta College of Art and Design and Costume Cutting and Construction at Red Deer College.
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I love needlework and anything to do with sewing - a lot. My current series of work focuses on transferring and stitching my sketchbook drawings onto cloth. The images, although embroidered, go beyond the traditional and conventional ideas of embroidery imagery. Through stitching the drawings - they are imbued with a feeling of worth. They are transformed into something more durable - lasting and precious.
