"You are right. It is a beautiful keepsake and you know the history. As Sharon said about using it for inspiration you could make your own and enjoy the journey of stitching it. Then you could compare then and now."

Sorry friends - I posted this in the wrong place a few days back and just realized my mistake and why I didn't get any responses - so am reposting. Have also downloaded a pic so that you can see the nice simple embroidery. The photo makes it look like it has orange in it but that's a lovely shade of red.Hello fellow CQ'ers,I have been the grateful recipient of a crazy quilt top that was made in 1925. My cousin sent it to me for 'quilt therapy' - suggesting that I add to the embroidery and…See More

Thank you so much for your friendship Di!

Yes, you are right about the profusion of threads and fabrics! we are going and trying :)

I make lots of samplers to try the threads. I mostly work on linen and linen goes with most of threads.

Thank you Di for your comment!

In fact those scissors caps were made to show at an embroidery workshop for beginners.

I saw you have begun with SRE and you are going very well!

It's a matter of begining everytime you learn a basic stitch you can imagine using it in a glasses case a needle-book case and so on. Embroidering on felt with perlé 8 is a good beginning, methinks! Go ahead and happy stitching!
