Little treasures sewn and knitted.

For the past few weeks I have been fighting a viral infection, mostly stuck at home resting and napping it seems that's all I was able to do for weeks. I had bought a new sewing machine, managed to get it out of the box and there it sat for 3 weeks under its cover waiting. Last week I finally threaded the sewing machine and gave it a test drive making a cute little tread catcher…See More

What I have been working on.

I had been ill for a few weeks this past summer and when I finally started feeling better I kept busy over the past few weeks putting in an Autumn garden, one of the perks of living in Florida is a near year round growing season.  While I was recovering from illness I went to my fabric stash and worked on a few small quilt block projects, one of my favorite quilt blocks is the bow tie block so I made a small pillow cover.…See More

Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
Wool, linen, cotton in the form of crochet, embroidery, quilting, sewing and once in a while an interesting piece of jewelry. I love look and feel of vintage linens, lace and fabrics and old needlework tools.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
My needlework skills are mostly self taught, however my fondest memories from early childhood was learning to hand sew from my grandmother which led me to a life long interest in sewing and other forms of needlework.
Let us know you are not a spammer. Is there anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group?
I'm creative, resourceful, and just a bit zany. I have good days, better days and days where I carry a shovel to bury my mistakes. I enjoy many forms of needle work and prefer to piece my quilts by hand, I love the look of vintage linens and fabrics and have a small collection, I have a growing collection of vintage jewelry, I have been known to remake my own pieces from items I find along my way. I enjoy treasure hunting at thrift shops, antique stores and flea markets.

All Stars Quilt blocks

Posted on August 18, 2012 at 13:29 1 Comment

Well I finally put the last stitch in the last block of the All Starts Quilt, this was a kit offered back in 1997 from Joann Fabrics I bought 2 of each kit, made one and saved one for future use. The first one was given to a friend to welcome her new little grandchild, the second kit spent time in and out of the stash bins, storage unit and packing boxing.  Until this week when I opened up the fabric bins and found it lying on top right where I placed it last year before my move.…

Dear Deb,

I've just made myself a cup of tea after doing the dishes. Together with a nice piece of chocolate, it is now time to answer all the people who commented on my TAST-piece. By the time I am done, the angel on the other side of the globe will have posted another challenge in the TAST-series!

Thank you very much for commenting on my pictures. I really like the black and white quilt in your blog. Well done you!

Have a nice day, Jessica
