Fabric Book Inspired by My Poem 'Green Cathedral'

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 10:25 0 Comments

I have now finished my fabric book,  which took longer than I thought due to a knee injury sustained during skiing.  It just felt odd trying to use my left leg instead of the right…

Fabric Book

Posted on November 11, 2012 at 5:17 5 Comments

I wrote a poem called my Green Cathedral and it has inspired me to create a fabric book.  I have hand dyed a selection of materials.  I have printed my poem and images I will use onto fabric and I have gathered a selection of threads ready to start.…

Playing around with backgrounds

Posted on July 2, 2012 at 10:36 0 Comments

I have been trying out some new techniques,  I have been using PVA watered down glue to apply some old scrap booking paper to a calico fabric base.  I have then covered this in a thin layer of gesso  thin enough to show the patterns beneath.  On top of that I have sprayed through a spiral stencil using inks l.  I am hoping that once dried I can then sew into it.…

Using up my scraps to produce small pieces of art.

Posted on June 20, 2012 at 12:47 1 Comment

I have been so busy at work, and when I get home I am too tired to try anything new or big. So I have been working my way though my scrap bag creating little pieces of art. It keeps me happy and I am using up my hoard.

Autumn Whimsical wall hanging is now finished

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 5:11 0 Comments

My latest whimsical piece is now finished,  and it is a shame that it is so dark and rainy.  Not ideal weather to take a good clear photo so I will have to wait and up load it when the weather is better.

You are so welcome. I have done this before on a couple of pages the printing part but not the other interesting stuff. I love to try out new products and check out new techniques.I have a few pages I did  with the printer . I added needle work and beads  to them they were fun, and there is so much copyright free clip art to chose from. I used bubble jet 2000 to treat my frabric so the ink jet ink does not run when it gets wet. I bottle is about $20.00. But you can treat yards and yards of fabric with it. And small projects are my cup of tea so I can try something new. Right now I have been dying buttons. I love the fun that art brings to my life and I love looking for forgotten things to play with in the thrift stores. Well it was nice to chat with you. Hugs Elaiine

When i went with a freind in that gorgeous patchwork shop in Ely, there were two gorgeous bits of fabric that i want to buy and my freind said, havent you got enough fabric.  To this day I still think I wish I had of bought that fabric but never mind.  Im hoping to go to the quilt show, so hoping to get some there and no,,, im not going to listen to my freind again (laughs) and Ive realised I can always buy online toox... I do have endless absolute endless things waiting to be finished waiting to even be started... thats been put to the back of the list.

Thank you, Claire.  I love making things involving my family and photo transfer is a wonderful way to do that.  I once did a quilt for my sister-in-law to give to her Daddy and I think there were like 300 pictures on it!  It was huge and I only put a little strip of fabric between each picture.  That was way too much!  Am never doing that again. hahaha

Your work is wonderful!

Blessings,

Diane
