Welcome! Part of my Stitchin'haven ...

Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
Fabric art, quilting, fashion.

But the first thing anyone needs to know about me is that I love horses.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
I qualified as a dressmaker in Whyalla in South Australia at the TAFE. I have never worked as a dressmaker, but did learn the traditional couture methods of garmet construction. I have always been fascinated by fabrics and textiles and making wearable art. I love cloth dolls and making them; a hobby I picked up by myself.
Let us know you are not a spammer. Is there anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group?
I have a tendency to procrastinate and this can lead to me having several UFOs around the place and take longer than necessary to finish a project.
I love making things - I have spent the last couple of years mostly doing scapbooking and mixed media art. now I want to combine all that with my love of fabrics and textiles.

The purpose in life ...

I keep blogs elsewhere for my general crafting, but I would like to keep this one specifically for fabric/textiles and sewing. I learned the haute couture way of sewing. I have sewn since I was about 10 years old. I have always loved the feel of fabrics, of all qualities and I love seeing what designers do with fabrics. I have a bit of a stash, but I mostly only buy what I need at the time and make what I want. Having things "over" isn't normal to me. Besides, I have storage problems of a scale… Continue

Karen, posted dolly on 26th November. Hope she gets to you soon, and that she brings a smile to your face.
Hooroo,
Christine.

Hi, finally able to get back to you with some news. Dolly is nearly ready to send, just painting a face today and making a little "prop" to go with her. I've changed my original character idea to someone more recognisable (I hope!) I've enjoyed making her so much, and I'm sure she'll find a good home at your place.

Hope you're keeping well now,
Hooroo,
Christine.

Just keeping in touch re the Show Business Doll swap. Dolly is still naked, VBG, but hope to have her finished next week. When are you moving, should I send to your current address by a certain date?
Hooroo,
Christine.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for your email; I'm glad to hear you are up and running on four cyclinders again! Looking forward to seeing your card exchange photo - there is hardly any on our Flickr site :-(

Hi Karen,
I'm spending my Saturday night browsing through Stitchin Fingers; there is always so much eye candy! I saw on Christine's Page that you had not been well - hope you are okay now? Looking forward to seeing you pop on our Cross Stitchin Fingers group again soon!

Glad to see you back, so sorry you had a health problem. I'm a bit slow in making the Show Business Doll swap, but when you're ready, email me at c_mckenna50 at hotmail dot com and I'll send my snail mail so we can post to each other. I have too many ideas at the moment and not enough time to make them as usual, LOL.
Hooroo,
Christine

I can not figure out how to find your mail here, seems my brain is still on vacation. Could you mail me under:

kucki68@yahoo.com

please, so we can swap postal information?

Hi Karen,
I thought I'd better let you know that your partner for the Christmas ornie swap is Karin in Germany, but she is away until mid September, so you might not hear from her, or be able to contact her until then, to exchange addresses. You can email her via 'Her Page' - she goes under her own name on the members list of Cross SF.

Hi, I'm your partner in the Show Business Doll Swap. I'm so new to this group I'm not sure how to "friend" you so if you'd like to send a message to c_mckenna50 at hotmail dot com I can exchange snail mail address with you.
Just please put Show Business Doll Swap in the subject line so I don't think your phishing!
Hooroo,
Christine.
