Elizabethan sweet bag

I found the original link to the photo of the bag I posted on my Trellis stitch blog. The bag is in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, they published 'Twixt Art & Nature' if you recall..

Here is the link to the bag:

I dont want my life to be taken over by an all-consuming obsession, but I would like to say that I intend to decipher how they made the bag and… Continue

Hi and Welcome!

Just wanted to say that my enduring fascination for Needlelace has mirgrated over to Elizabethan embroidery's expression of the exact same stitches. As you know, they embraced those techniques as filler stitches during their Golden Age of Embroidery.

Filler stitches always interest me as wide areas of embroidery always need special consideration. Needlelace having originated on the continent, and being mainly white, it is so interesting to see what the Elizabethans achieved with those technique… Continue

Hello! i'm pleased that you looked at the site. the reason i didn't do wordpad at the time was the picture resolution didn't look that good and so far i haven't like any templates that i see. the (only) good thing about verizon was that it was like designing your own site from scratch. Also, i use a mac computer and a lot of blogger and websites still have compatibility issues. for instance, i'm starting a blog on blogger.com but i had to download another browser.
but keep giving me hints! i'm going to check out wordpad (or what it was) today!!

Thank you for your comment. It is nice to hear from others....The "Diary" is just being bound into a fabric book, but too slowly.... a few stitches a day...too little

Thank you for your kind comment about my appliqued vase with flowers. I enjoyed doing that piece, which was my first machine appliqued work.
I love your Home Sweet Home and the way you used free style stitching to compose the picture. Many quilters also work in free style, sometimes called liberated patchwork, by making slight changes to traditional methods, with fewer precise measurements.
