I love needlearts of all kinds, quilting, sewing, and any kind of handstitching, as well as knitting. I am an avid (flower) gardener and I like to read. Been sewing, doing needlearts things and knitting since I was a little girl, but I have only been quilting for about seven or eight years.
Where did you learn your textle skills?
My grandmother taught me to knit and my sewing was encouraged by my mother, but basically I am self taught. I learned needleworking of all sorts by experimentation and reading pattern instructions...same for quilting. But I do belong to a large quilt group in my area which has great speakers each month and have learned a lot from them.
Anything else you want to say to introduce yourself to the group??
I am a passionate Francophile and love anything English, as my father and grandparents came from England to the US when my dad was a teenager. Have never visited, but am a great armchair traveler.
Hello from Michigan. Thanks also for yor nice comments on my Dorset Buttons and other creative things. Much appreciated. Love your wool Ornaments. They are very lovely. Hugs Judy
Thanks for the kind words about my CQ. The pictures on my Flickr cover quite a few years now. I understand the time thing. I worked full time plus until last summer. Retirement is wonderful, but I still don't have enough time for stitching. Oh well, life is good, and I'm enjoying each day. Your pictures ate wonderful also. I love the ornaments. I give a Christmas ornament to the grandkids each year, and you have given me some great ideas.
What beautiful ornaments! And in response to your message, I am not very active either. Seem to have one chatty day a month. :) But good to see you and hope you'll visit www.subversivestitch.blogspot.com where I try to gather together as many different kinds of quilting and needlework as I can.
Hello: I've stopped by for a visit--your ornaments are beautiful! I've just made a few simple ones to donate to a Holiday Sale at the library, strongly inspired by some I saw for sale, not original designs. As I was doing the embroidery I realized how enjoyable the work was and thought about delving into it more. So then I saw your crazy quilt blocks with the fabulous embroidery!
Maybe in 2010 I'll make some crazy blocks and use them as a way to practice new embroidery stitches. Do you think that would be a good idea? Or should I start a stitch sampler?
I'll visit your blog again, Averyclaire. Just this weekend I went onto Facebook (tho I was on for a short time last year)--and I think your name came up as a suggested friend. Is that you?
Love your cat quilt, too. Maybe I'll make one of those with my scraps.
Hope you and your husband are doing well.
Best,
Kathleen
Hi, thanks for your comment on my Christmas sampler.
Weihnacht is just the German word for Christmas. This sampler is also available with the English word instead.
Thanks for the lovely comments about my Santa dolls and little Annie. I've just started to have a go at needle felting but at the moment I feel more like a cross between a pin cushion and a sieve!! Those needles are so sharp!
